I personally didn't get BH contrax, but that might be what you're experiencing. When I was in labor, the contrax felt like insanely strong menstrual cramps.
I don't mean to scare anybody but that's how I felt yesterday and it was contractions and I was dilating. I had to get turbutaline to stop them. Anyway, if you're far enough along I would say that it may be the start of things, so good luck! If you're still early though (less than 37 weeks) I would probably call your OB and let them know in case they want to see you.
My BH never felt like menstrual cramps. With my first, I had that achey feeling (like my period was coming) here and there for a few days before he was born. 2 days before DS was born, it was pretty strong, but not timeable, then completely stopped until my water broke the morning he was born.
With my 2nd, I had that achey feeling off and on for about a week, maybe a little longer. But I remember describing it like I felt like my period was coming.
That's kinda the feeling I'm looking out for, for me I feel like it means it won't be much longer (but like a PP said, doesn't necessarily mean it will be tonight or anything).
BH are the all over tightening of your uterus. The period like cramps are a sign your body is preparing for labor. I'll be 36 weeks on Monday and have had both period cramps and BH for three weeks. Doc said no worries - just means everything is getting in gear.
Same with me.. both my kids i just had more of the period cramps rather than the tightening.. id go to your doc just to get it checked out and see.. i was having the period cramps a few weeks ago and am now dialated to 1 and am on modified bedrest because im just about 30 weeks.. i had to have a vaginal ultrasound to check my cervix which is only 2.3cm and the avg for 30weeks is between 3-5m..

I had this about 4-6 weeks ago, and my doula suggested that I need to drink more water. I've been trying harder to get my fluids and it's stopped the problem. Lately I've been getting them here and there, but once I drink some more water, they go away.
DS born 10/25/11 ** DD born 6/24/13 ** DS born 4/20/15
