Ok. So I have a funny feeling I'll end up being the only woman on here that's experiencing this but from the moment my body became pregnant, I became a weight-gaining machine. I'm 28, 5'7" and was typically 130lbs before getting pregnant. But now, I'm halfway through my pregnancy and I've ALREADY gained a whopping 35lbs! I'm typically a pretty healthy person?get moderate exercise every week, eat well (with indulging in my chocolate fix every now and then)?yet my body is just packing on the lbs. It's really stressing me out because I'm in no way eating significantly much more than I did pre-pregnancy. And the kicker is, I've been feeling amazing since day 1.
I had absolutely no morning/afternoon/night sickness and have just been feeling fantastic. So what gives? I have this fear I'm going to gain like 100lbs by the end of this and I just have no conceivable idea why this is happening? And I look at my body and just go, where is all that weight going? Nothing's visible on my face, arms, legs. It's just that my belly's popping out and I have noticed my butt, thighs and boobs are a bit bigger. I don't know. I'm just feeling really down about all this and am shocked that my body is doing this to me! What am I do to if I'm eating well, exercising and getting enough sleep every night?!
Re: So stressed about my weight gain!
I know it's easier said than done (especially when today i signed up for a calorie counter to see how my eating is going), but try not to stress about it too much. I'm sure other people will tell you, each pg person will gain more or less at different times. Some people gain most of their weight at the beginning, some have it evenly spread out, and others pop right at the end.
As long as your controlling your cravings (we all give in sometimes!) and getting some exercise and eating sensibly then let your body do the rest. Your baby obviously needs what your body is giving it.
It if will help you, sign up for a calorie tracker online (they're free) and see how many calories you're consuming a day. Pg ladies need an extra 2-300 more than a regular woman would of the same proportions.
And also remember that i think we all feel this way sometimes, but just remember the amazing thing that's going on inside you. It has to have some outward signs also!
My Chart
Hi! I am also, 28, 5'7", and weighed about 130 pre-pg. I'm about 165lbs right now and it is pretty freaky, but my MW assures me everything is fine and normal.
You don't need to do anything different. Some people just gain more weight than others. It sounds like your body is just doing it's thing. My weight is all in my butt and stomach. It's pretty crazy.
I miss my pre-pg body sometimes, but I am so excited to have this baby, and I am just trying to have faith that the weight will come off in due time. I remind myself every day that I would rather have a happy, healthy baby and do a little extra work to get my shape back than stay skinny forever but never have kids.
Don't stress.
I know this is what everyone is going to ask and it's an annoying response, but has your practitioner mentioned anything about the gain? I wouldn't really worry if s/he isn't.
That being said, people's bodies just react so differently to pregnancy. You very well might stop gaining when the majority of women start gaining like crazy during the last half. It also probably has a lot to do with you feeling so great - I didn't have terrible m/s, but I did have continual nausea... otherwise, I think my number would be a lot higher than it is. And it's fabulous that you don't feel as if you've gained all over.
Don't get down on yourself... as long as you are eating right {most of the time... enjoy the chocolate!}, exercising, and all your vitals are healthy {no GD, good BP}, you are fine! Your body is just doing what it needs to be doing!
