Well this has been bothering me for two weeks and although I don't know how UP it is, here goes...
I hate stupid recalls on baby items. No not the ones that are recalled for choking hazards the ones that are recalled because the people using them don't have a brain. An example: Bumbo chairs, they were recalled because babies were falling out of them and fracturing their skulls. Well if the parents were using them like they are supposed to be used (on the floor) instead of on the counter then their child's skull would still be fully intact. Another one is the stroller we have, it was recalled because people weren't buckling their children in and they were sliding out and strangling themselves. So we recall things because of people's stupidity? I mean if that's the case every item ever sold should be recalled because there are a lot of stupid people out there who don't follow common sense directions.
Maybe we should start recalling the parents?

Mine is an off shoot of this! I get that some safety things are totally necessary - car seats, plug covers at low levels in an open area, gates at stairs... but I i think people get crazy with it. Maybe some of it is a sales tactic? Parent magazine had an article and its suggestions of what was a danger were just too much for me - kids shouldn't live in a bubble and parents should be teaching them to stay way from dangers not relying on device to protect them.

I agree, some of the recalls just require common sense. Unfortunately, people don't always have that.
I also agree that you shouldn't have your kid live in a bubble, but one thing that many parents don't think to baby proof is their furniture. We lost a family member (2 years old) a few years ago due to her dresser falling on top of her. It's really important to strap your furniture down because so many children are seriously injured or worse each year from furniture tipping. I've had friends laugh at me for saying that we're going over board with baby proofing, but I don't think they will be laughing if they are put in a situation where they have to live with the guilt of what they could have done to prevent a horrific accident.
Is this an unpopular opinion or a confession? Sometimes I think the things people post as the product of "pregnancy brain" can't really be chalked up to pregnancy, if ya know what I mean...

I totally agree with this!!!!!! Children's cold meds are another example of this also.
My UO is about a lot of the so-called controversial topics here. I think that in 5, 10 years no one will give a rats a$$ about the things that people get so worked up about right now and it will all seem so silly. Like the recent episiotomoy / tearing threads. Ditto with the BF / FF, med-free or epidural births, then once the babies are here there will be all the CIO / not CIO, letting kids watch TV, making your own baby food or not posts. There are so many examples of what I'm referring to but those are the ones off the top of my head.
I feel that people get so totally worked up about these things and act like they will just DIE if they (EXAMPLE) get an episiotomy, but in 5 years when they look back on it, will feel "who cares?" because in the scheme of things these issues don't matter.

I agree with ALL of this. Also, who gives a s*** if someone is FF and not BFing. It's not any of your freaking business and who the hell are you to judge what other people do when you have no clue about them or their lives. These things are all personal choices... not flameworthy at all as it's THEIR LIFE... not yours. So do your own thing and worry about yourself and your family... not others.
I hate when people cringe when I tell them we're cloth diapering. My MIL was trying to tell me about how she had to dunk the diapers in the toilet. I don't plan to dunk my diapers in the toilet. If there's something solid on there, I'll get it off, but otherwise I consider it an unnecessary step. My diapers aren't going to look pristine for very long, so the prerinsing is an unnecessary step. Just once though, I want a family member other than DH to praise me for my more ecofriendly (and cost friendly) decision.
We've all been on here long enough to know that there are women in our month group who are battling body image issues. If one is going to post something about weight gain (or lack thereof), it is common courtesy to put that in the title of the post.
I hate "texting" spelling and how people think it is ok to leave random letters off words to make them shorter or in an attempt to make themselves sound cooler. It won't kill you to type out "be" instead of B, or "you" instead of U, or to realize the difference between "your" and "you're".

Well I will praise you for CDing. We love it and we've never dunked or swished a diaper! As a quick tip, you can use fleece liners to help preserve the look of your diapers. We use fleece liners on all of our pocket diapers and they look brand new.

I was so excited to show my mom our newborn CDs that I bought. So of course she holds a cover up and inspects it for five seconds and decides that there is no way it could be leakproof, and tells me I need to make sure I get some "real" diapers. Apparently, my mother was secretly an expert on Cloth Diapering (sarcasm)...who knew? Ugh.
I don't find the video of the little girl in the pink tutu signing Nicki Minaj cute. In fact I'm bothered that she knows the words and her parents let her sign even the inappropriate parts. I was really shaking my head at that one.

No flaming here. I plan on spanking my child when he misbehaves as well. One tool I may use as well that my mom always used on me and it would work was a flick. One flick on the back of the head or above my ear and I knew I was in trouble... and flicks hurt as much as spanks! And like another post said... I have no issues now lol.
S/O of not liking fried chicken - I don't like bacon. I think it tastes bad, it smells bad and I don't like eating pigs because they are cute. Mostly though, I just think bacon tastes terrible, even turkey bacon. It's ok to judge me for this. My therapist said I probably need medication because of it.
I know I'm most likely not the only person who thinks this..but I hate when people share on facebook every time they earn swagbucks for searching for something. My SIL's whole facebook page is her swagbuck updates. I have blocked her updates from my newsfeed and really want to tell her that no one cares if she earns any swag bucks!
I don't like fried chicken. I think it is pretty gross actually and it always makes me feel like death. I much prefer oven fried chicken.
I cannot eat any meat that is still on the bone. It completely grosses me out. Just the thought of eating flesh off an animal's bone is enough to make me gag. I can however eat boneless meat. I am strange.

Oh my goodness, this! My MIL and FIL do it all the time. But they also think they are in their 20s. My MIL has a pretty important job with a government contractor and she admits using it in her emails. She says that it is because the times are changing, when really it makes her look unintelligent!
This is going to sound sad because I'm a teacher, but I don't think everyone should go to college. I think everyone has the right to and should have the ability to, but I don't think everyone should. I think that we should have more technical schools and apprenticeships. I see high school students everyday who are forced to fit a mold that they can't handle. You give them a skill, like auto shop, drafting and cooking and they blossom. I hope I don't sound hypocritical, I just think that everyone is good at something and sometimes it isn't in the traditional school setting.

I agree with this 100%. I know many incredibly smart people that either didn't go to college or went to a trade school. Doesn't make them any less smart- they went with their skills and are flourishing now!
And re: spanking. No flames here. Both DH and I were spanked and it only took a couple times (literally) to shape up and listen. We'll spank when necessary. And spank, not beat. Totally different.

Personally, I do not spank, but I would never flame anyone else for their parenting choice! We all do what works best for us!
This is why Mrs. Leanna is loved so much! It is just fine to have different opinions/methods but dont look down on someone else because their choice is not yours. PS hope you and baby Brooke are doing well!
FWIW if spanking is what works for my LO then it will be used, if it does not work, other methods will be put in place.
People who obnoxiously post updates and pictures of their babies (or about their wedding...or fill in the blank) Right now it just happens to be babies because I'm at the age where everyone I know is having babies. One of my friends posts around 10 things a day about her LO whether its pictures, or how he slept for x amount of hours, how she's taking him to Starbucks...etc.

My UO/confession is that my dog has been following me around the house nonstop for the past three weeks and I'm getting tired of it! She never did it before, she would want some attention but then she'd be perfectly fine hanging out in her spot gnawing on her chewstuffs. Now she ignores her chewstuffs and stalks me constantly, getting underfoot and you know I'm already paranoid about being clumsy on my feet... give me some space dog!

I could not agree with you more. It saddens me to see a student struggle to read Shakespeare when that student is gifted at something that is not a traditional part of school. I wish they still had "alternative" classes in high school to help teach skills like shop, cosmetology etc... I think it sends the wrong message to encourage kids to go to college to earn a "white collar" degree. There is nothing wrong with becoming a plumber, electrician, hair stylist, or any other profession and I think our educational system devalues these career paths.
