I am having my 2nd CS on Tuesday and I'm insanely scared. But I have heard great things about the recovery for the 2nd one. I had my pre-op appt yesterday with the doc. and she told me she would be taking out the catheter and disconnecting the IVs that evening, so that I have to get up. All the information I've heard about scheduled CSs is good.
I thought my first recovery was great until after my 2nd recovery. I felt about 95% back to normal by 5 days pp. I think that there were two contributing factors. My nurse was great about bringing me meds on a schedule. My 1st section I had to ask for meds and that usually happened after the pain came back. This time I was ahead of the pain in the hospital. Second, I made a much bigger effort to be up out of bed and more mobile in the hospital. I insisted on getting out of bed just 6 hours after my section. The hospital policy is 12 hours and with my 1st section it was about 22 hours until I got out of bed.
I had a pretty easy recovery with both of my c/s but my 2nd one was easier. I think it's because my 1st c/s was unscheduled after several hours of labor and I felt so incredibly exausted for weeks. My 2nd c/s was scheduled and everything was very easy and there wasn't any additional stress on my body because I didn't go through labor.
I am also scheduled for my 2nd cscection in 2 weeks (Oct 27th) so I am curious about other's experiences. I am so nervous about having another csection. I have read the 2nd one tends to go easier and so does a scheduled csection vs an emergency csection. I hope this is true for me.

my 1st c/s was after 24 hours of labor. i think my recovery went fairly well - i was just exhausted. i just had a scheduled rc/s 6 weeks ago and oh.my.word. i couldn't believe the difference. as i told dh, i just didn't feel like i had been beat up this time. surgery was at 7, i was back to my room by 8, and out of bed by 2pm. from my experience, scheduled/and 2nd c/s's are much easier!
My RCS recovery was WAAAAAY better than my unplanned one with DD1. It was not as scary going in there and I knew what to expect - for the surgery, the recovery, etc. I was concerned about having to recover from a c/s with a 2 y.o. to contend with and it wasn't bad at all. I just made sure the DD1 understood that she had to watch out for my "owie". Since I knew what helped with recovery, I recovered faster and was back to "myself" a lot sooner.
I am anticipating the same thing this time around - c/s #3.
GL!

This makes me happy. I want to get out of bed ASAP.
