pads

Any second time moms have any suggestions for what to buy for pads to wear after the delivery?  I know they supposedly send home some "tucks" but .... what kind of pads and how many do you typically need?  A big box? little box?

I know it sounds silly but I'm totally clueless and financially strapped so i really don't want to buy the wrong thing.

Re: pads

  • Tucks are medicated pads, not pads for bleeding.

I have both Stayfree and Always pads, just because it was what I got on sale. I used Stayfree Overnight with Wings after my first baby.

How many you'll need will depend on how much and how long you'll bleed. I had an uncomplicated delivery with a minor tear and I had period-like bleeding for 4 weeks and spotting for another 2 weeks, so I used quite a few pads.

  • I got Always overnite with wings, and regular Always with wings for when the flow starts to slow down. I got a big pack of each, but I figure when I run out, I won't care to get out of the house and buy more by then.

  • Watch the coupons and just pair it up with a sale. It won't be too much $. I really don't like pads so I bought thinner ones and knew I would change more often.  I couldn't use the dry weave tops for the first week. It irritated me for some reason so get at least 2 brands in case. Good Luck
