If Nate has a fever of ANY sort, I will postpone vaccinations for another day. If it is the sniffles, probably not. I would call your pedi and ask to reschedule. I wouldn't want to push my child's immune system too far if he is already fighting off something more than sniffles.
I think a lot of the answers you will get from here will depend on what 'other' diagnosis their child has (i.e. epilepsy, neurological deficits, immunity disfunction, etc)
I postpone for anything but sniffles. Diarreah, fever, hacking cough, etc. I try to reschedule 2 weeks out so I don't delay too long, but I don't want to take the risk of overloading him when he's already sick.
I do not give shots if my child is sick. He has pretty severe reactions to vaccines and also to illnesses, we never have a case of just the sniffles.
I'm not sure what you're story is but DS has enough going on that he doesn't need to be building up antibodies to a vaccine while trying to recover from an illness.
We just postpone it.
However, DS is not in daycare and isn't exposed to much so I don't feel it's *that* big of a deal to delay vaccines by a month or two.
To my boys: I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
Our pediatrician will not do the vaccinations if the child is sick. If I had a choice of having them done or not, I would not vaccinate if my child was sick.
