Update and Way Forward

Hi lovely ladies. As you know, I had my first RE visit yesterday. Emotionally it was really difficult, as if being there was admitting there was a problem (with 70ish day cycles obviously something isn't right). He was great and covered lots of questions and what the parth forward looks like. Our plan right now is as follows:

Around cd 32-35 call for bloodwork, if I haven't O'ed, start prometrium/provera
cd3 bloodwork
cd3 u/s
Clomid challenge - 100mg cd5, 6, 7, 8, 9
cd10 bloodwork
cd11 saline sonogram & u/s to check follies
trigger shot after that if things look good
DH is getting a SA next week

and then I think maybe 7dpo bloodwork? At some point he's going to check progesterone, but I forget exactly when. He's also not okay w/ my TSH of 3.6, so I'm starting Synthroid to lower that. It was a lot to cover at my appt, but he was very thorough.

Does this sound pretty normal to you all? Does it seem okay to be using 100mg and a trigger the first time?

I'm a bit nervous, but glad to be moving foward.

I'm sorry your appointment was a little tough emotionally, but I am sure at the same time, it's relieving to have a plan. I'm guessing he's starting you at 100mg since your cycles are so long and the trigger will just help finalize the maturation process and help with timing for O and sex. I hope it all goes well!

I will ask about the trigger shot when I go in for the first u/s too, but wanted to get other opinions/experiences before I go

Absolutely! I did not have a trigger last cycle, but I am asking for one this time. It's difficult for us to do more than 2 days in a row, so a trigger will definitely be beneficial to us!

I think with your long cycles 100mg and a trigger the first time is perfect! I was 50mg and trigger my first, and it showed to not be helpful. I was think switched up to 100mg.... which wasn't even helpful, and it became 2 5-day stints of 100mg.

The monitoring sounds awesome! I'm so glad they're really keeping great track!

I think it sounds like a good plan and wishing you a lot of luck. I think your dr seems to have a good monitoring schedule with you. I haven't triggered when I did clomid or IUI's, but if my dr offered it to me at the time I would've done it.

I think that sounds like a good plan. FWIW, my RE has told me before that he never prescribes less than 100 mg of Clomid. My first cycle with him, we did 100 mg of Clomid +TI/IUI. Good luck to you...I hope you get some answers and a great plan in place!

I took mine at night, and while I still had some, they weren't awful. I was worried too the first time I did 100 mg, but the most follies I've ever made on that dose is 2.

I never actually did a trigger with clomid, but I have heard of a lot people who do have that protocal...I did clomid through my OB and not my RE though. Other than that, the rest seems pretty common protocal...FX
