Has anyone else started this? My best friend from college's mom kept a journal for her from when she was pregnant, journaling her pregnancy and all the important milestones in her life. She gave it to her on her 18th birthday, which I thought was just the sweetest idea ever. I am absolutely going to do this (not sure if I'll do the same thing - give it to them on their 18th birthday, or maybe it will just be like a journaled baby book that they can look at any time) and I have been keeping notes for when I start (like when & how we told people, anecdotes, etc). I am just not sure when I should "officially" start it. I have been putting it off until at least our first u/s (Monday)!! If you are keeping one, have you started?

Re: Keeping a pregnancy journal for baby
I have the belly book, I am going to start filling it out next week I think (I was too nervous to start filling it out before).
I have also been taking 'belly' photos every two weeks and will likely continue that!
I have this too, and I only just started writing in it a few days ago. I really like it though!
Thanks, ladies. I'm going to look into the belly book. I hadn't heard of it.
I also started a pregnancy blog that I update pretty frequently. Its easier to type and upload pictures to rather than having to print everything out. I know there are services that let you print your blog into a bound book so I think at the end of this journey that is what I'll do.
It's been hard for me sometimes because I want to be really candid about the symptoms, emotions, etc. But I do plan on giving it to my child at some point and I don't want them to be like, "ew...mom!!!" Lol.
I modeled mine on The Belly Book, but the attitude was a little too snarky for me. I didn't like that I wouldn't be able to fill it out completely (really? photos at 1 and 2 weeks "pregnant"? You're not pregnant yet!). I also didn't like that the average length of a pregnancy for a 1st time mom is 41w1d but the book stops having spots for entries at 40 weeks. So I decided to basically follow The Belly Book's guide, but modify it to how I wanted it to be
My mother in law did this for my husband and it is just awesome, even though she didn't really do a great job keeping up with it. She started it when she was pregnant and updated it periodically throughout his life. She gave it to him the Christmas we were engaged, he was 26.
I'm planning on doing something similar. I have been keeping notes on my computer about everything I've been feeling/doing. I'm going to start handwriting a journal soon, I'm not sure when, maybe around 12 weeks.
We did for DS (we also used the Belly Book) and absolutely will for this pregnancy too. My mom actually called me last night to see if I got a book yet. I told her no, but that I need to. She said she wanted to get it for me to "celebrate" the pregnancy (we just told her this weekend, so it's still new for her). I thought that was really sweet, so we'll see what she comes up with.
I took pictures every week last time, and haven't yet but need to. It's kind of weird to do it now, but wait until you have a huge belly, or are onto the next baby. It's fun to compare!
Yes, I am doing a bunch of things! I'm writing in a journal that is just my own thoughts, impressions, when we told people, how I feel, etc. Then I am also using The Belly Book to record the important stuff like doctor's appointments, ultrasounds, bump pics, and things like that. In addition, I already started a Baby Book too, for the first five years of the baby's life. It only has one page that deals with pregnancy, and will mostly be filled out after the baby is born.
I think it's so much fun recording everything and thinking about how the baby will feel when he or she looks at it when they are older!
