2nd Trimester

Exhausted from looking for maternity jeans.

I swear I have tried every places possible that has maternity clothes. I am only 5'0" with short legs so it is hard for me to find jeans that fit length wise to begin with. I have a pair right now that are from Target and I am noticing that the bigger I get the more uncomfortable they become. I seem were the belly panel meets the jeans cuts into my stomach and it hurts like crazy. I have tried bigger sizes and the same thing happens. I have found that I like the under the belly panel and it sits more comfortably. But I can't find any in short/petite anywhere. I am to the point where I am going to buy a regular pair of jeans and use the belly band that I got from a friend.

Anyone have suggestion as to where I can get petite maternity jeans for less than 25 - 30 dollars since finance and I are on a very tight budget.

  • Have you tried Old Navy or Motherhood Maternity?  They both carry petite length jeans that aren't too expensive.

  • Can you just get a normal length and hem them?
  • I bought my Gap maternity jeans in short sizes, but they may still be a tad long for you if you wear flats.  I'm 5'2" and one pair I got was fine with flats, but the other I need a small heel/wedge to prevent them from dragging.  I posted in another thread - but they have good coupons fairly often - so I was able to combine 40% off with a sale pair of jeans and get them for fairly cheap (prob $20-$25).
Also, have you tried consignment?  I got a pair of ann taylor loft capri skinnies for $10, but they are long enough on me to be actual skinny pants.  If you're on budget - I'd suggest trying a thrift/maternity consignment store, and just have the pants tailored to your height if needed.

  • Destination Maternity has those sizes, but sometime they are pricey depends on the sales. I would look at the goodwill or thrift store. My local goodwill has a nice selection of pants you can pick up for 5 bucks and then have someone hem them for you. Most places charge like 5 or 10 bucks to get them hemmed.

  • JCPenney has a petite pair - they are full panel though - but they're only $25.

  • I bought 2 pairs of Old Navy jeans with that low waistband/panel and I just LOVE them. I am tall (5'9) but I also always have issues finding the right length jeans. Especially if I want to get fancy and have something that will work with flats and heels at the same time.

So I got a pair of these which don't come in long and they are AWESOME for flats/sports shoes.

And these which come in Lond which are fabulous for heels.

I would recommend the 2nd ones for you. Get them in short and if still too long, just get them hemmed. That typically costs $5-10 if you go to a little neighborhood alterations shop. Totally worth it in my book.

Anywho, both these are soooo comfy! Oh, just do not go up in size. I am typically a size 2 in their jeans, 1 in khakis, and after reading reviews I decided to go with a size 1 jeans and they were perfect.

    Good luck!

  • I have thought about getting a pair that I saw at ON and just have old grams hem them up. And sadly, there are no maternity thrift stores or consignment shows within 50 miles of where I live.

  • I don't have any suggestions, I just feel your pain.  I am 5'1, very petite and can't find crap.  I really want some skinny jeans for boots this winter.  I found 1 pair of non-skinny at Motherhood that I like but that's it.  I even tried on an XS skinny and they were too big, ugh.  And I hated Old Navy's stuff.  The other pair I found that fit well was Pea in the Pod but they were $130, umm no thanks.  I have been rockin my normal jeans with a belly band, but am getting close to being too big for that.

  • I'm also petite and found some petite maternity jeans at Kohls for about $35, I think.  I really like them.  I also found a pair even cheaper at Sears.  Definitely check out Sears maternity section. They had a lot of petite ones at the one here.
