This was something that have never really crossed my mind so I thought I'd share with others in case they hadn't thought about it either.
Yesterday we had our car seats inspected and the lady was telling us about various incidents involving kids in accidents. She mentioned they had a little girl who was in a pretty serious crash and while the car seat did it's job, she sustained a pretty severe head injury because she was hit in the head with a cell phone. You don't really think about how any lose object in your car can become a projectile in the event of an accident. If you don't already, you might want to think of a secure way to store things like cell phones when you are driving. If you have an SUV and put groceries or other store bought items in the cargo section in the back it's a good idea to get a net to secure them while driving.
This may be common knowledge to others but it was definitely something I had never considered.
Re: PSA: Objects in your car

I don't take one single minute for granted.
I had my car seat inspected as well and the officer (I went to our local Police Dept) said he has gone to many accidents and items in the back of the cars always end up jumping in the front. I have an SUV and he said when I have the stroller in the back to secure it down. He said in one accident the stroller ended up jumping over and hitting the passenger in the back of the head. I didn't even think about any of this so I'm glad I had the inspection because I learned a lot.
