1st internal exam...

Yesterday I had my 1st internal exam.  I didn't realize how much it would hurt! Dr. said that I am 80% thinned out, baby is almost station 0, and although he can't predict when she will come if he was a betting man he would bet that I won't make it to my due date and he expects she will be arriving sooner rather than later.... So now I am freaking out lol.  All of a sudden I feel so unprepared!!!

    Are they only supposed to hurt if your cervix is soft?

    Was your doctor maybe rough?

    I think that they do hurt more when you have progressed; my first ones didn't hurt at all, but now that I am 2 cm., 50% effaced they hurt a lot more

    I had my first one last week and it HURT...I was not dilated at all.  Not looking forward to the next one...unless its to tell me I am getting close!

    I had my first internal done yesterday as well and yes, it was indeed very very painful!  In fact, I not only had 1 but i had 2 done because i was in L&D with preterm labor so they had to make sure I wasn't progressing anymore before they sent me home.  Today I feel very very crampy down there and also every time the baby moves.  Are you experiencing this as well??

    My internal check was uncomfortable and it felt like she was reaching for my tonsils! However, it wasn't painful for me.

    I had this done yesterday as well.  I was also unprepared for how much it would hurt.  I actually spotted a little afterward, and felt very sore yesterday evening, especially when LO would move.  I was 50% effaced, 1cm dilated, and at 0 station.  My due date is November 2nd, and dr. said I probably have about two more weeks.  I go back Monday for my next weekly appointment so I'm anxious to see how I have progressed even though I am not looking forward to the discomfort.

    I remember my internal exams as being very uncomfortable, which some people might describe as being painful...def. not pleasant!

    i just had my first internal exam and it didn't hurt at all. i'm 4 cm dilated and completely thinned out. it wasn't even uncomfortable. Maybe i just have a less sensitive cervix?
