When do our appt's change?

Tomorrow I have my 32 week appt and obviously since 28 weeks they are every 2 weeks vs. once a month. Anyone know at what point do they change to weekly? ...and also when do they start doing more other then asking if you have questions and hearing the HB?

I plan to ask my OB tomorrow since every practice might be different but figured I'd ask you ladies too :)

  • I never switch to appoitments every 2 weeks. I go monthly untill 36 or 37 weeks. It depends on your doctor.

  • It depends. I was told originally that at 28 weeks, you start going every 2 weeks. But it's also dependent on you and your pregnancy.

Because I also see a high risk dr, at my 28 wk appointment, I was supposed to come back in 3 weeks (b/c I 'd be seeing the other dr in between) and that I'd be starting 2 week visits after that time (so 31, 33, 35, etc. and then once a week at 36.) However, I had terrible pain a week after that, so I went in and then I was told to come in a week later. A week later I was told I might have pre-e and now I have to go once a week.

I know I'll get an ultrasound and a non-stress test but I don't know if that's the norm.  I have to have mine due to GD.  Other than that, I have no idea lol

  • Like PP said, it is all based on your doctor.  Most people will start weekly at 36 weeks.  Also depending on doctor--what happens at each appointment.  My doctor does u/s at every appointment (always has but now it is for growth and fluid check), fundal height, BP, HB, and starting at 34 weeks, cervical check in my particular case.

  • I had my 32 week appt yesterday, and my dr told me that the 34 week appt will be the same, and then at 36 weeks, they go to weekly, and I'll be getting a pelvic exam at each one.....yippee.....

  • I believe my 33 week appt. will be my first weekly appt, but I am high risk with the BP issues I've had.

I'll be doing my 1st NST at my 33 week appt as well, and I have to bring in a 24 hr. urine collection.

  • my weekly visits start at 37 weeks. from here on out, I go at 33, 35, 37, 38, 39, 40

ETA:  at 35 weeks I get an u/s to check growth, fluid levels, position, etc.  They have made no mention of any other changes to my appts.  I'm guessing once I hit 37, things may change

  • my doctor said we'd begin weekly appointments at 34 or 35 weeks, and that's when she'll start doing internal checks.

  • I had my 32 week appointment today, then I go back in 3 weeks at 35 weeks, then 2 weeks later at 37 weeks, then weekly.

  • Well now I am weekly starting next week.  I have NSTs twice a week now so on my second one the doc will be seeing me and checking my blood sugar charts but I'm high risk due to GD and HBP.... I know my SIL saw her doc every week starting at 35 weeks
image image Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • I had my last appt at 27 weeks, and my 1 hr GD test at 28 weeks, she wanted to wait an extra week so we would have the results, so I go in next tuesday (30 wks 3 days) and every 2 weeks after. Until about 36 I believe then its every week, but Im going to ask what to expect then. All they do is check my BP (perfect for a pregnant woman im told) , fundal height and HB... if LO cooperates.... usually its moving around so much, she only gets a couple seconds. No more u?s scheduled for me, had mine around 21 or 22 weeks. Unless I have GD, then its Fetal assesments to monitor the baby`s size. However im not too worried, though im overweight and 34, my last baby was under 7 pounds and no history of diabetes in my family. Usually we just talk about anything I have questions about :) This time im bringing up what to expect for the next 10 weeks appt wise, last time was all about circ :D

     Mrs. Met,

My doctor isn't no longer taking OB patients anymore as of Sept 1. Any patients that were pregnant prior to Sept 1st he is going to remain seeing. Which I am one of. I am due Dec 28th and I am planning on having more after this little guy makes his appearance :) Since I will not be able to go to him whenif I get pregnant with my 2nd, I will need to find another practice. I clicked on the link you provided and saw that the practice you go to is in my area and I am very interested in what you think about this group of doctors. I really don't want to switch doctors after the baby is born but I figure it would be the best to find a place that I am comfortable with prior to getting pregnant again. I really like the stuff that they offered and would really like to get a personal feed back. I don't know how to private message through thebump.com so if you do can you let me know and I will private message you. Thank you so much :)

  • I never really use the private message either but i can tell you that they are very nice at the practice. I do hate the fact that unless it's an emergency, it takes a while to get someone on the phone (even test results you have to leave a message for). But if it is an emergency, they call you within 2 minutes. Appointments are almost always on time and depending on when you go (I usually do early morning or late night b/c I work in Staten Island and it's just easier), you might even be seen before your scheduled time.

I wasn't a huge fan of Dr. Leizer but I love everyone else, especially the Cipriano's (husband and wife).

Also, they deliver out of Centra State which is nice and close to you and I'm not sure if you've done it, but I did a hospital tour there and it was very nice. I was impressed. :) Let me know if you have any questions.

  • 36 weeks once a week visits, pelvic exam at 39 weeks. Another u/s at 40 weeks to check size (if baby is overdue.)

  • Weekly starts at 36 and with ds she started doing internals at 37 if I remember right.  I'm hoping to avoid them this time though because I'm having a repeat c and really don't care if I'm dilating or not.

Me too.  Last pregnancy I went every month or so (sometimes longer) until 36 weeks, then 38, and finally 39.

  • I had an appointment last week at 29w, and my MW asked me if I wanted to do the next two three weeks apart, so I'll have one at 32w then 35w, then I'm not entirely sure after that.  I'm guessing 37w next, then once a week until 41w, then every 2 or 3 days.  Internal and NST starting at 41, I believe it was.
