Pregnant after a Loss

Hello heartburn

Yech... I think I need to keep some milk handy, that seems to help. Any other sure cures?  I don't think the fact that a very tiny little man is kicking at my liver is helping things... yeesh.

  • I avoided anything tomato-y. I don't know if you eat a lot of tomato sauces or juices but I do and I figured out it was making it worse. Tums help a little and baking soda in water helped a lot for me!
  • tums don't do anything, and i'm too paranoid to take medication (i know, i'm being over paranoid but i can't help it!).

milk and sitting up right for 30 minutes after i eat are the only things that help me. oh and if i know it's something that bugs me, like tomatoe sauce, i'll drink milk before i eat to kinda coat my stomach and ease up the acid that's about to come down. and guarenteed, if i try to lay down before 30 minutes passes after i eat, i'll get heartburn, but if i stay sitting up - it doesn't get as bad.

i chug milk like it's going out of style though and that's so unlike me because pre-pregnancy, i hated plain milk. now i can't get enough of it! at least it's something good for me and the baby, ha.

  • There don't seem to be any specific triggers, like this morning I ate an egg sandwich for breakfast and now... ugh. Never given me a problem before... it seems pretty random. Yeah I'm going to have to start having milk around at work, so far its what helps the most. And I was never much of a milk drinker pre-pg so I guess its a good thing, good for me and him!

  • Izzy, I am sorry you have heartburn, looks like pp have some good suggestions.  I don't think I've had it, but the warm drinks like tea sound pretty soothing.  Aside from the heartburn, how are you and your LO? =)

Hello my dear! Me and the LO are doing really well, he's pretty busy!  I, on the other hand, am starting to get really tired again, I can't believe I'm almost in 3rd tri! Where does the time go?!?

How are you and Dexter doing? Any premonitions if you'll go early/late? Feeling nervous or pretty relaxed about meeting the little man?

This exactly. I have had heartburn and indigestion this whole pregnancy. now in third tri, every time I bend over, I feel like I'm going to puke and get awful heartburn. Avoid anything tomato, chocolate or just acidic foods in general. Milk helps too and so does vanilla ice cream! I have been living off tums this pregnancy. Tums are just calcium, sugar and some flavoring.

  • Yep heartburn here every other day or so it seems....... I finally took a tums the other night because it felt like there was a dragon in my throat/chest and that helped.  Also DH was going to have me do the baking soda/water thing.   Sometimes I try milk, sitting up for a bit before bed and i think I'm going to start the 2-pillow thing again.  ( I had acid reflux really bad for years and lived by the 2-pillow).    I hope you get some relief soon.

I am glad you are doing so well, but sorry about the fatigue.  Now that's a symptom that I DO have, haha!  I think Dexter is doing well, although my belly feels super low today.  I kinda think I am going to go late, this being the first "long-term" pregnancy that I have experienced....they say that the first time can take the longest, so we'll just see.  I guess I am relaxed about meeting him, but nervous that I don't have everything ready.  I'll be working on that some tonight hopefully!
