S/O blowouts - washing stains

Any tricks to making sure those poop stains come out of their clothes??

Re: S/O blowouts - washing stains

  • My washer has a pre soak option, so I do that and add vinegar to get rid of the smell. This works very well.

  • This

I tried this on a whim on vacation. I rinse the major mess out and then rub the bar into the poop stain. I had quite the routine before and this took the stuff right out. Even the things that had been washed and dried. You can also buy it in the laundry section at most grocery stores for about a $1.

Can you find it in stores? Or do you have to order online?

I have no idea...this was a gift from my shower (however, if I do find I can only order it online, I will definitely order multiple).

  • Our washer has an extra hot wash that I use for all Ev's stuff. Nothing so far has had any poop or spit up stains that didn't come out. I also have an oxy stain stick (it's like a gel stick you can get anywhere) that seems to work really well at getting stains out.

  • we put whatever is in the sun for stains that won't budge-- 9 times out of 10 a day in the sun will get rid of it :)

  • Sometimes working a little dish soap and cold water right into the stain works.  V seems to have a blowout at least once a day and when I do this and keep it wet until washing, the stains go away.

  • I always throw some oxiclean in with C's loads and then soak for awhile and then run my regular cycle.  That gets out 95% of the stains I'd say.  For stubborn ones I make the oxiclean more concenrated and just soak the affected piece or make the paste with the oxiclean and put that on it.

This!  It works better than any product I have tried and it is free!

  • I rinse it out with cold water as soon as I can & try to get most of it off that way, then spray it with shout.

    This exactly! Oxiclean is amazing.

  • I take the stained clothes to the bathroom, put some hand soap on it and rub like mad for a few minutes. Works every time .. And there have been lots of times!

Same here. Usually just throwing some Oxiclean in with each load works, but for anything I think might need extra help I use the stick before throwing it in. So far it has worked every time.

I've never had a poop blowout, but for our CDs if they're holding a smell I either do a water/vinegar pre-soak, or add some vinegar to the wash, depending on how bad it is.

  • Another vote for Oxiclean. I remember I got a box of baby cloths on CL a while back and even tho the add said the cloths that "no stains, great condition" well ya they lied and like 1/3 of the cloths had stains (of course they were all conveniently at the bottom of the box) I soaked them all in the bath tub with like 2 or 3 cups of Oxiclean and after all was said and done all but one item (a white dress) looked good as new.

BRU sells Totally Toddler products- not sure if they have that exact item though.

  • I second the SUN!  DD has pretty bad blowouts, so I wash the stuff and then put it in the sun (when we actually get some sun) and poof, it's gone!  I usually rewash it, but I have an issue with clothes being outside.

I have yet to open our Baby Oxyclean.  I just hang the item outside (wet) when I sun my cloth diapers.  No stains on CDs or clothes so far.  You can add some lemon juice if it's really bad.  Oh, and it doesn't need ot be done or treated right away, just whenever you wash them.
