Goat's milk?

If your LO has milk protein allergy/sensitivity could they tolerate Goat's milk or did you have to cut out all animal milk? Right now since he's only 5 mos and EBF, it's just the milk I would be eating. I don't want to go and buy goat's products to replace cow's if it likely won't work.

Re: Goat's milk?

  • You could always try it, but DS reacted to both until about a month ago.

  • most react to both, but there have been a few people that are ok with goats milk and not cows milk.   Since you BF, it's the best time to try and see if your LO reacts.

I would just buy a small thing of goats milk and maybe make a muffin with it and start with that.  Then 4 days later drink couple of sips and see if there is any reaction for the following four days.

    Good luck!

  • Negative...the proteins are very similar and only 10% of people with cows milk allergy can tolerate goats milk-this is what our allergist said. Jacob still got hives, plus it is vitamin deficient in certain areas...

  • Bummer- I probably won't invest in them since they tend to be expensive. I miss yogurt most of all and really enjoy goat cheese. Maybe I'll try goat cheese at a restaurant sometime and see if he reacts. Soy alternatives just aren't the same.
