My dx is anovulation. I do not have PCOS and there is nothing else that the RE can find that is wrong with me. Apparently my pituitary gland just does not communicate with my ovaries.

curious if this is something that developed later in life or if it has maybe always been that way.

PCOS - but only found in bloodwork. I don't have anything on my ovaries, just high androgen levels. It took over a year for them to find it after I insisted. I ovulate irregularly when untreated. Acupuncture and Metformin help.

FET #1 - 10/4/14 = BFP!! Beta #1 = 179. Beta # 2 = 499. Due June 22nd.
I thought I was ovulating fine, due to normal-looking charts, regular, 27-day cycles, etc., but I guess I wasn't ovulating strongly enough. Or something. On lower doses of Clomid, I didn't get mature follies. So my Dx is just "ovulation issues" and I don't have any signs of PCOS (except I'm chubby ).
FWIW, I think PCOS signs can be found in bloodwork (though it is not always found there), via ultrasound (probably the most conclusive way, but not always conclusive), and/or just from symptoms. I know this because I was concerned I had it, so we kept checking and checking.
My feet and Miss Heidi the rescue mutt!

Moving forward with domestic infant adoption!
Hello, I'm not yet diagnosed, I am thinking that I don't ovulate since my cycles are absent, light or non-existant and definitely are sporatic. My OB said that my ovaries were slightly polycistic but that she didn't think I had PCOS since I had no other symptoms. (Hello- not having my cycle and not getting pregnant could be other symptoms.) We are going to see an RE to get proper testing. Do those of you with PCOS ovulate now that you've been diagnosed? Meaning, were you prescribed Metformin or another drug and did it work for you?
I have been taking the Metformin for my PCOS and Synthoid for my hypothyroidism. When I was told I have PCOS I was told to eat a low carb diet and the RE I saw actually told me I could quit taking the metformin but that it wouldn't do me any harm to keep taking it. Since it seems like most the girls here are taking it I chose to keep taking it. I've been TTC for 13 months and have had 9 cycles this being my 10th. Out of those 10 cycles I've ovulated 3 times. Two of those times has been since changing my diet and losing an additional 10 pounds. I don't know for sure that the Metformin is what caused me to ovulate but I do think it played a key roll.

P/SAIF Welcome!
My dx is anovulation. I do not have PCOS and there is nothing else that the RE can find that is wrong with me. Apparently my pituitary gland just does not communicate with my ovaries.
curious if this is something that developed later in life or if it has maybe always been that way.
Unfortunately, I have always been this way. I didn't get my period for the first time until I was almost 18 and then I only had it twice total before going on BC. I have been off BC for a total of 10 months since then (not consecutive) and never once got it. It is so frustrating that my body doesn't function properly for no apparent reason but I am responding to clomid so that is good news!
"Mild Ovulatory Dysfunction" was what the RE told me. I have not ovulated since going off BCP in Nov. 2010, including 3 months on clomid. He said my LH:FSH ratio looked PCOSish, but my testosterone was well with within normal limits and the ultrasound showed no cysts.
I also have hypothyroidism, but my TSH is fairly well controlled at 3.49.
I have never had regular periods since i have started getting them. I went on bc with a six month period when i wasn't but went back on it. I have been ttc since may/june and still have not had a regular period to try and conceive. I don't have PCOS so as some may have troubles if they have PCOS some also have issues without it. i would talk to your doctor to see what they say. My dr said if I dont get pregnant in a year, which is common, then we will discuss other options. Until then i was told not to worry too much. (I know easier said than done)
I'm the exact same way...I've only ever had 6 periods my whole life without provera or Birth control. No diagnosis, and have been trying sporadically for 3 years. In 2 months going to the RE if the Clomid my gyn prescribed doesnt work...but last month I did get a period after a failed clomid cycle. So maybe the hormones will kick start something...happy thought!
