Who is using a cradle?

Normally I would use my PNP, but my dad is finally finished with the cradle I was suppose to have with DD#1 (its only 3 years late LOL). I'm debating if I should just have a cradle pad and sheet, or if I should have bumpers also. I think it's just too small of a space for fluffy bumpers. Does anyone know if they make breathable bumpers for cradles?

Re: Who is using a cradle?

  • How long will the baby be in the cradle? Chances are, not long enough to be able to thrash around or roll over and hurt themselves, so not long enough to need a bumper.

  • I am using a cradle, but no bumper. I did find a breathable one somewhere online, but I can't remember where.

  • I am using a cradle.  I used it for DS & never even thought about a bumper.  I don't think I have ever seen a breathable one for cradles.  DS was only in it for a couple months, maybe 3 at the longest, and was swaddled & didn't roll.  Bumpers weren't an issue at all.

  • We are using a cradle - no bumpers as he will be in just very short term.

  • I did find one! Breathablebaby.com. they are new. They are also cheaper on Amazon. I think I'm going to get it just to be safe, both of my older LOs rolled around 3mths old and I plan on keeping the baby in our room until she's 5mths old. Its just so much easier for me with my section.

  • We are!  We've had it since DD was born and she used it for 9mo because it took us that long to get our blasted crib set up (FAR too long!)...  We will have the same sheets/bumper set as we used with DD for this LO too..  One thing to note is that body pillow sheets work PERFECT on the mattress for the cradle so that's a cheap option for sheets that change easy.

The nice thing about the bumper on the cradle was that if we woke up or moved, LO didn't see us so there was a level of "privacy" and sleep time is meant for sleeping.  OTOH, I was always an arms reach away so could reach under the bumper if I needed to in order to put the nuk back in without making eye contact which usually meant instant signal for "play time"...

  • We will be using one that a family friend made for us for DD.  We didn't use a bumper because we moved DD to her crib before she started rolling on her own.  and I agree, it is a small space to add too many extra things.
