Q for busty gals who are tired of them

Totally personal question, so if I get no responses I will not be offended :)  I am a busty gal, at my skinniest I'm a full C and at my not so skinniest, a DD.  You can only imagine what they're like now that I'm pg!!  I'm so over having such a big chest. I'm not a huge person so I feel like they are out of proportion and really interfere with things I like to do (running, etc.)  If you are in my boat, would you ever consider a breast reduction once you're sure you're done having babies?  This LO will be our last and I have mentioned it to DH as an idea for when I'm done BFing.  He's horrified because he's scared of surgery (and he likes them) but understands that I get backaches, have a hard time getting tops that fit right, etc.

The practical side of me says why would I do that when I am a mama - no reason to go under general unless absolutely necessary and this isn't "necessary".  The not so practical side says dang it, I've lived with these things for 39 years and I am OVER it, so why not do something that makes me happy.  Thoughts, opinions?

  • I'm considering it.  I was 34E pre-pregnancy and now it's 34 H/I.  I HATE them.  Nothing fits right and they are a huge PITA.  I'm chicken about actually going through with the surgery, though, but I'm sure thinking about it.  DH is totally supportive because he knows how much I hate them.

  • If I had the money, I'd get a boob reduction/lift and lipo.  Though I'm deathly afraid of dying under the knife. So I'd probably NOT do this.

I'm a full C at my thinnest and, at my heaviest, a D or DD (actually my bras are either 36C or 34DD since I'm really a 35D but there are no such thing). I'm a bit overweight right now (not much but enough) and even at my slimmest, I've never weighed less than 132 lb and I'm almost 5'4". I have pretty broad shoulders, actually.

  • If I wasn't terrified by surgery I would totally do it once done having kids and BFing. At my skinniest I'm a 32G and at my heaviest I'm still a 32G. They've always been totally out of proportion with the rest of my body. They're just huge and seem to stay the same size no matter what's going on with my body :(

So yeah, I'd totally do it were it not for my fear of surgery.

  • I'm right there with you. I'm 5'3 and 130. I wear a 12 on top and an 8 on the bottom. I'm a 34F and pregnant I'm a 34I pregnant. Now after 2 kids I'm a 34 Long. Stick out tongue

I met with a plastic surgeon (at no cost) and he can do a "non-vertical" on me- they only cut around the nipple and under the breast- there is no incision from the back to the front- hence- non vertical.

I am going to have to wait about 2 years to have it done but I am DOING it! I look longingly at all the strapless/ spring dresses and tanks.. and yes- I'm 40! and ~sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh~

My surgeon says I medically qualify due to my "nipple to notch" ratio. You should have yours measured and maybe you can claim it under medical.

    GL!

  • I would probably get the girls done, in fact I was planning on it. I hate clothes shopping, knowing that I can't get the top done on my chest. Pre kids I was 5'9" and 135lb, and maybe a 34/36C. I haven't shrunk in height, but I've blossomed. At my heaviest (pregnant with S) I was up to 225 the day I delivered, and I was a 40, um well bigger than an F (not sure, because I couldn't find a nursing bra that fit, the F was too small). I am down to 175, lightest I've been in a few years, but my boobs haven't shrunk much, so maybe a 38DD long?? I have 30 lbs to go, and stay there before I go see someone. They can do my belly too. Remember Kate Gosselin got hers done?? Yeah, I'm with her, kids do nasty things to skin.

My aunt got her boobs lifted and tummy tuck a few years ago, and WOW. I will go get a consult with her surgeon, board certified and very good.

  • I was away for a couple of weeks: glad to see that you are 9 weeks preg. already!

I am 34 DD but haven't really considered the reduction. Why do surgery if it is not absolutely necessary? Guess it depends on how uncomfortable you are.

  • My current nursing bra is an "I" cup, so I am considering a reduction, but so far only from the "that would be nice" perspective.  I have not had a consult or investigated insurance coverage, etc.

DH is a breast man but is still on board with a reduction because he knows they bother my bak, make clthes shopping difficult, etc.

    DD1 is 3, DD2 is 1.

This is me almost exactly.  I'd do it if I could be guaranteed to not die.  Leaving my kids motherless because I was uncomfortable with my boobs seems, man, I don't know what the word is for that.

But, I might still do it.

promised myself I'd retire when I turned gold, and yet here I am
  • We actually looked into this when I was a teen but I keloid (big horrible scars) so it wasn't an option.  I asked a plastic surgeon I work with a few years ago if techniques etc. had changed enough that scarring would no longer be an issue but for me, it still would be, so that's the only thing holding me back and I'm a 38 D at my skinniest.

FWIW, a good friend had a breast reduction and still breast fed all three of her kids with no more than the regular issues.

  • The only reason I haven't had a reduction yet is that I wanted them intact for BFing.  After the next kid.....all bets are off!
