The first phase of my "nesting" is nearly finished! We have had our living room under construction since last sunday so our house has been in an uproar. Never did I predict how hard it would be to have a 2 year old around during a house remodel. I suppose it didn't help that the most centrally located room in our house, and most used room was the one under construction.
The construction guys finished friday night and told us we could start painting on sunday once all of the mud was dry. So DH sanded down the walls on saturday and started priming. Then after church on Sunday DH and I ditched DD with my mom and I chose the paint and we got started painting (I know, I broke a cardinal rule of pregnancy by painting while pg- but I was desperate to get this done!). We painted for over 7 hours last night until 10pm. DH went to work at 730 and I got started painting at 8, which was made easier by my sister coming over to watch DD at 8:30. My neighbor even pitched in and watched DD at her place for an hour after my sister left. So I cruised around the room and got the ENTIRE second coat of the room done by myself by 12:30 this pm.
I feel so accomplished and strangely proud of myself! DH and I have a running joke about me "not being built for manual labor". Aka I hate any sort of manual labor work. So I'm really proud that I did the whole second coat myself (except for the VERY tippy top b/c I wasn't about to get up on a ladder or step stool "just in case".
So we have half of the furniture back in the room now, as of 20 minutes ago and I'm finally sitting on my couch again for the first time in over a week. Which as we all know, being THIS pregnant is a MUST! I couldn't be happier! Only wishing I'd taken "before" pics so I could show the change! And what a change a paint job and new ceiling will do!
Re: finally- a huge sigh of relief!
I'm jealous! I need this nesting to kick in because the only thing we have put together is a rocker in the LO's room! You're off to a good start though!
We're getting all new carpet next Monday so my family is coming over this weekend to help move all the furniture in our house to the sunroom and garage. My mom is also painting the nursery before the new carpet goes in. We'll be living the entire weekend in a bare house and then MH is going out of town for work so I'll have to enlist help to move the furniture back, unless I want to wait until MH gets home. (Which I don't)
Gotta love home improvement.
