Pregnant after a Loss

Exercise....what are you ladies doing for it?

Since we are getting into the winter season...what are you girls doing for exercise? I have a treadmill at home, and a rubberbanded workout thing that goes on the door for muscle tone,and countless videos, but I'm not sure what I can do besides the treadmill, and I'm looking for other ways to stay active besides just walking. So I thought I would see what all you girls are doing. :)

  • I had every intention of doing prenatal yoga. I did half of one video once and gave up back in 1st trimester. Bad me!

    I've been walking, trying for regularly as I feel great after but I've had a hard time getting motivated to go in the first place. I'm trying to do better and have been so I'll be continuing on my treadmill as the weather turns. Better than nothing right?

    Maybe I will try the yoga again... I'm really disappointed in myself that I didn't stick with it.

  • I really wish I could exercise. Pre-pregnancy, I was very active. Around 14wks, I went on an easy 1 hr walk and had terrible pain and pressure for a few days afterward. I had to get a cervical check, and everything was fine, my doc thinks I just get really bad round ligament pain. He didnt say I couldnt workout, but I dont want to experience that kind of pain again.

    That being said, if I could work out, I would be doing a lot of walking . I have four dogs and I love taking them out to the park and exercising, but that is not in the cards for me :( That woman who ran a marathon at full term, has me so envious! I wish I could at least go on walks.

  • I've been walking a lot outside, but with winter around the corner, not sure how much longer I have for that!  I also do Prenatal Yoga once a week at a studio by my house, but you could also buy some videos.  And I am going to start going back to my trainer once a week to stay toned, if possible.  I had a large cyst on my ovary and wasn't allowed to work out (besides walking), but I just had it removed, so regular exercise is ok again.

  • My PA said not to over exert myself, so I'm really stretching that into doing nothing, but all I want to do is sleep so I figure I should do what my body wants right now.  I think when I'm out of 1st tri and more confident I'll start going on good walks with the dogs again and pick up prenatal yoga.  Pre-pregnacy I used to run and do power yoga wkly, so I've been feeling really out of shape...

  • Aside from walking up the stairs and work and parking far away in the parking lot - I haven't been excercising at all.  It's terrible!  I feel like I need to reserve my energy for errands and stuff I need to get done around the house.  I'm sure working out could give me more energy, but I honestly can't muster the enthusiasm for it.

  • I haven't been doing much of anything... However, once I am a little more secure in this pregnancy, I will probably use the treadmill and maybe do some light weights for toning.  I tried prenatal yoga in the past... and I hate it!  I just can't get into it.

    you're not alone zilly! you could have took the words out of my mouth.

    it's horrible. i want to walk, but after working a 10 hour day and cooking dinner, the last thing i feel like doing it walking/excercising. it takes every bit of energy i have to get household chores done during the week and on the weekend. i always think about walking, and then i think about how much my tailbone hurts and it's going to hurt to walk and i think "maybe tomorrow", except .. tomorrow i say the same thing - HA! hell, last night i was sleeping at 7:30. i feel like an old lady lol.

  • We bought a treadmill a few months ago, I am walking 3 miles a day about 4-5 times a week.  Been getting up at 5am to get it done before work too, so I don't make all the excuses after work when I am exhausted!

  • I've been walking, but I have to keep it shorter than I used to because I get short of breath and have asthma.  Plus I'm still paranoid...I'm hoping my activity level will improve in the 2nd tri...we'll see!  I just ordered a prenatal yoga dvd so I feel confident that I'll do it at least 4 times a week.  I also stretch in the floor a lot and do some of the exercises recommended in the PG books I'm reading...all three of them!  LOL

  • My Dr said to keep doing what I was doing.

    So I do crossfit 3x a week.

    I will probably start scaling some (less runs, no box jumps, and less burpees) and wont be increasing my weights, but trying to keep them comfortable.

    I have to make myself go. I do feel better afterwards but man, it is all I have to go to class.

  • I was running 3x a week and doing pilates every other day before, but now DH is psychotic about my "taking it easy" (he's sooo worried about us having another m/c). So, for now I'm walking, doing a little pilates and ordering a couple of prenatal yoga and workout videos I can do. I can't stand being inactive anymore! (Especially since I know I'll be snowed in pretty soon... Thank goodness I have an elliptical downstairs I can use!)
