I work on my feet for 6-8 hours at a time. I get these sharp pains in the area of my tailbone and have no idea what to do about them. Anyone else have these? If so what do you do that helps?
I've been having this since the middle of 1st tri! I work on my feet (75% of the time) and sit or get up and down frequently the rest of the time. My @ss is so sore! At first I thought it was b/c of how much laying down I was doing at home after work but when I posted about it there were LOTS of others on here experiencing the same excruciating tailbone pain.
Unfortunately it comes and goes, but it's here more than it isn't. And it varies from being moderately uncomfortable to severly uncomfortable. I get up and down fairly slowly at work. I'm sure my co-workers can see it hurts me to get up and down but I've only talked to one of them about it b/c she's preg and experiencing it too, but not as bad as I am.
It sucks and I really doubt anything will fix it besides delivery! No idea what's causing it, though.
This has been going on with me for awhile too! I tried taking Tylenol but it didn't help at all! I work 12 hour shifts on my feet.. That's one thing we have in common- Maybe the cause has something to do with that. My mom said she had the same pains when she was pregnant and it never goes back to normal- she said her hips still hurt the same way sometimes!
I've had it happen a few times so far this pregnancy (never experienced it w/ DS), and have no idea what's triggered it, or what improves it. It does suck, though - hopefully you can figure out some relief!
i get it when i sit too long or stand too long, so pretty much i have this all day everyday ha. it feels like someone is stabbing me in my tailbone everytime i get up or sit down. and it aches all day. i have to sit on a hemmerhoid doughnut pillow at my desk at work or i'm in tears by lunch time.
i talked to my doctor about it. he asked me if i hurt my tailbone before, which i had snowboarding, and he said that some women's tailbones lose their flexibility once it's hurt or broken. so therefore, with all that stuff moving around and pushing things - instead of my tailbone "flexing" with it, it's staying stationary and not budging, cause severe pain.
he said i could start taking anti-inflammatories, like aleve or ibuprofen, but i'd have to take these 3x's a day everyday til the end of my pregnancy for it to work effectively. me and my husband weren't comfortable with my taking all that medicine (plus it'd be a double edged sword because the heartburn from all that medicine would be insane) so we asked what else we could do. he said tylenol, the doughnut pillow and a heating pad no higher then medium in the evenings. i asked if he was sure about the heating pad, cause some doctors say not to use them but he said it's fine, medium or lower is not going to raise your core temp enough to even have the baby feel it and plus, it's on your back not your belly so no worries.
he said sometimes the pain stops and other times it continues the whole pregnancy - i've had it since week 17 and it's not looking like it's easing up or going away anytime soon .. boo

Lots of stretching and seeing a Chiropractor have been very helpful for me. It's not completely gone but it's much better than it was a few weeks ago.
