LOL. LO sees the bumbo as an obstacle course rather than a place to sit. Today he somersaulted out of it and then laughed. I think we got maybe 2-4 weeks of use out of it when we first got it 4 months ago, and it's only been used as a launching pad since.
Re: The bumbo was a waste of time/money!
Yes, we didn't use ours much either but fortunately it was a hand-me-down.
And yes, kids can't definitely use it as a launching device. A co-worker's husband had his daughter in one on top of the table. She launched herself off the table (while the Bumbo was still attached) and ended up cracking her skull. I know some people think they seem safe to have on top of tables but it's definitely a safety hazard. Fortunately, the daughter was okay.
how scary! I agree, ours got really limited use. first DS was too small to sit in it comfortably, then in a matter of weeks he got too chubby and his little legs would get stuck!
we also got the play tray with it, which was an even worse idea. You have to lift up the bumbo to attach the tray - which you can't do if LO is in the seat, and (because of the chubby legs I guess) we couldn't get him in or out with the tray attached.
I am actually happy to read this - this was an item we registered for but never received and I didn't bother buying it. Hold on to it in case you decide to have another baby.

we have used ours everyday since DD was really young (she sat early and had excellent head control). she still sits in it, with the tray, on the table while we eat dinner instead of sitting in a high chair. DS used his for 2yrs.
obviously, we love ours! we keep one at my parents house, too!
DS loved his! Ours was on loan from a friend but we used it a lot until he learned to launch himself out of it. I guess we used it until he was about 6-7 months?
But yes, definitely something to keep on the floor!
yikes! and that would be why they have a giant warning on them not to use on a table top.
we liked ours a lot and the only reason we didn't use it longer was that Warner got too big for it too quickly. I loved it because with all the spitting up that Warner did, it was the one seat that we had for him that we super easy to clean :-) We also had the play tray attachment so he could sit and play with a toy easily. we'll definitely try to use it again with #2.
yeah, i don't get how this happens. audrey can and will launch herself out of her bumbo. but when she is on the table, it's because we are all sitting there, eating together. we never for a second leave her unattended, which is the only way a child could injure themselves. (b/c if there was qrown up there, presumably any attempted launch would be thwarted). to me, it's kind of like putting a warning on the bathtub not to leave your child in it unattended.
