When do you give your kids a bath?

Do they get a bath at night or when they wake up? I have always given daily baths to my son at night as part of the bedtime routine we've had ever since he was 4 months old. I was talking to another mom the other day and she was telling me how she woke up late and had to rush breakfast and her sons bath. I had never really thought about baths/showers in the morning instead of at night for kids. What do you do with your kids?

Re: When do you give your kids a bath?

  • I usually give DD her bath after dinner.  However, once and awhile on the weekend I will give her a bath in the morning.

  • I'm not consistent with this at all.  DD gets s bath about 3 or 4 times a week.  It might be at bedtime, in the morning or in the middle of the day.  Just whenever its most convenient to do it.

  • During the weekdays the girls generally take a bath about an hour or hour and a half before bedtime. Only when it is a crazy night do I allow them to shower in the morning before school.

Weekends they just shower whenever throughout the day.

  • I give baths at night, when we can take our time and let her play a little. If we have someplace to be (family function, etc) and we missed a bath the night before she might get a morning or mid-day bath. Or if she's particularly cranky and I'm about to lose my mind I might give her a bath as a distraction :)

  • We do bath night every other night and it's always after dinner. Sometimes, if they are especially dirty in the morning or we are doing something that requires them to be extra clean like a picture or something, I'll throw them both in the shower with me. They both associate bath time with bedtime and they HATE taking baths at any other time. It's actually kind of funny. They are OK with a shower, though, and it gets them clean and they think its some sort of special treat so it all works out.

  • They get a bath every night after dinner and playing outside (which we do almost every day). I only wash hair every other night though. The only time they get bathed earlier is after swimming or after the beach, which we do one of those at least once a week. I cant imagine adding another thing to getting ready to go out in the mornings.

  • They get a bath as part of their bedtime routine. We start bath time at around 7:15 and they are in bed by 7:40.

  • Bath every night before bedtime. I know at this age he doesn't need one that often, but it's part of the bedtime routine and helps get him settled down. When we have more, I'll probably bathe the youngest ones whenever it's most convenient.
  • We do both depending on our schedule. More often though probably in the morning.
Especially in the summer when it was so hot - she always woke up sweaty and need a bath anyways. Now it's nice to "warm up" before bed though.

  • We do ours at night.  Used to be every night as part of a bedtime routine but now ie every 3rd day.  More like once or twice per week for Olivia.

  • When DD was an infant I gave her baths at random times during the day. I remember one particularly stressful day that I felt I was losing my mind so I gave DD a bath and afterwards she smelled all fresh and clean and I felt so much better!

Since DD's been big enough to not use the infant tub, we do her bath in the evening before bed.

  • It's part of our nightly routine.  If for some reason we are out late and we skip his bath (only happened twice in  17 months) he does not sleep well.  Kinda like some nights when I'm exhausted and don't want to wash my face before bed..I never sleep well.  Guess I just feel better clean before bed, which apparently DS agrees with.

  • I've always given them baths at night.
  • We usually do bath time in the late afternoon after he's played outside and gotten dirty. If he has a very messy diaper he gets a bath at that time. He gets a bath every few days lately since its been too hot to go out anyhow.

  • I do bath late in the afternoon before dinner.

Several reasons for this: He's usually filthy from playing outside in the afternoon, the bath sort of peps/hypes him up  (which I don't want right before bed), and it gives me bath time to finish dinner details so he can eat right away.
