do your take pictures of your kid/kids?

I was thinking about this other day, and maybe it's just because I love photography, but my sister takes a ton of pictures of her kids on her cell phone.  She loses a lot of the pictures because either the phone breaks or she loses it.  Plus they are poor quality because they're from a crappy cell phone.  She really only prints the pictures that I take of them.  When we were growing up my mom and dad always took pictures of us.  There are literally about 4-5 huge boxes FULL of pictures of my sister and I through the years.  Granted I haven't printed all of my pictures, but I plan to some day.  Every once in awhile my sister and I will sit down and go through some of those boxes and it's fun to look back.  It bums me out that she has 3 cute kids, and a bunch of craptastic cell pics of them.

  • I take lots of pics of my kids on my cell phone - I love it. But I know they aren't exactly frameable. My issue is VIDEO though...ugh...we have one and never ever ever use it!!! I just take like 1-2 minute long videos on my phone.

I think iPhone pictures aren't terrible, but I have a droid and they usually suck.  She has some crappy old phone that she borrowed from my mom because her's got thrown in the dog bowl.  they are a blurry mess, and she prints them.  haha!

  • I take pictures of him whenever I can, and whenever he'll let me. I sprung for a DSLR a couple years ago because the point-and-shoot was not doing it for me. He has a knack for avoiding me at all costs as soon as he sees my camera, so I have to be quick. I hardly use my phone. It takes OK pictures, but I still haven't figured out all of the settings.
  • I take lots of pictures, I make sure I get pictures of at least 50% of the activities we do and places we go.  I upload a good amount of them to Facebook and arrange them by month.  I do this for a lot of reasons, one is the obvious to share with friends and family.  But also because a lot of online photo site allow you to upload your pics from Facebook.  So when a good deal on photos or photo books comes up, it is real easy to just upload the photos I want.  This way I can access them from any computer at any time and easily put them where I want.  I am pretty bad about getting prints, but I LOVE making photo books!  I make large year in review photo books at the end of the year for family, I also make small books of trips and places we have been so the kids can show ppl the pics and tell them about the trip.  My MIL keeps all her photo books under her coffee table and loves to show them off to visitors.
  • I try to take a lot of pictures-and I print them all out too! I have so many photo albums already and have no idea what to do with them! I asked DH what he thought we should do (he's more computer techy than I am) and he said to keep printing them-that he likes having them and being able to look through them in a book rather than just online. What we'll do with all of the albums?! No clue!
  • YOU take pictures of my kiddos :)...wonderful pictures at that!

I take a ton of pictures of them.  My DH always laughs at me, but he is so grateful when we go back through them.  His family always jokes that I will most likely have my camera on me at any family function.  I love pictures.  I am not good at all about printing them, unless I want to frame them and I have gotten lazy even about making photobooks..or maybe just too busy.  I printed out a bunch last week, as I wanted a bunch to show people when they asked when I returned to work...and boy did they.  It was fun showing off my boys, and Meryl, I had a bunch that you had taken as well, so I could show off your talent too :)..

    All this!

My mom took tons and tons of photos of us growing up and they are all in boxes.  So sad.  She did put them in albums probably until I hit about 6 y/o and then life caught up.  So I make a big shutterfly book each year for dd (and I will start for ds).  I feel like it is so much more likely for them to flip thru.  I also will use the occasional free smaller books I get in my email to make a special trip or other relevent book.  For example, I just made a Zoo trip one bc my parents took her to the zoo and took about 100 photos.  The one before that was an Ellie's First Words one that I had a bunch of pictures with the words of things that she knew and family members.  That one actually really helped her get over her fear of MIL&FIL since she hardly sees them.

I don't take many on my cell bc the quality sucks.  My mom takes a ton and I always tell her to use my camera that I keep in the diaper bag, but she won't/doesn't remember.
