DS was too young during his first flu season and so we didn't get it--and thank goodness because he is/was severely allergic to eggs which the flu shot is derived from. So I'm taking that same precaution with DS2. Yes--I'm nervous but we've had to be extra cautious with DS1 as well so we do what we can. I've also found that everyone I know who has gotten the flu shot the last few years has had a severe case of the flu --worse than before they got the shots. Even my SIL who is a pharmacist won't get one.
So pretty much the decision was made for us--egg allergies.
Yes. Both are in DC and I'd rather deal with a milder version of the flu than a hospitalization like some other folks ended up with when their LOs at DC got the flu. Plus I am taking DD to see my grandmother whose health is failing and want her to be innoculated so she is not risking the health of an at-risk population at the nursing home.
DD1 is in preschool four days a week. She's already brought home one bug that has been circulating among the rest of us, and I know there'll be more.
DD2 is mostly home with me, but it doesn't really matter with DD1 having so much exposure -- and DD2 always gets sicker than the rest of us, just because her immune system is still getting established. So something that is a sniffle and cough for me = 103-degree fever and nasty cold for her.
Plus, there are so few meds I can give her that help, at this age; I definitely want to avoid the flu if at all possible.
she's 2 in daycare (4 kids total) and we're in nor cal (no snow, no freezing cold weather, the worst it might get is foggy, rainy and a whopping 50 degrees !)

Yes. My DS isnt in daycare but home with me however we are not hermits and go to the mall and such. Plus he goes to MOPS childcare twice a month. He has had one every year. Better safe then sorry.
We've never gotten her one and DH and I never get them, either. DD got the flu last winter, 2 weeks after just about every kid in her preschool class had the flu. These were all kids who DID get the flu shot, yet they got the flu anyway. I am not convinced that DD would not have gotten it or that her symptoms would have been any less if she had the shot. She has a pretty hearty immune system in general and doesn't have any pre-existing health conditions that make me worry about the flu the way some friends whose kids have asthma or other respiratory issues worry (in their cases, I think I would get the shot).
DD is 3 and goes to preschool 3 days/week. She is home with me or a sitter the rest of the week.
This is the 1st year my DD got it. She's doing MDO twice a week and we normally partake in 2 different playgroups' activities during the week. I also had my son get his. I felt pressured into doing them since my DD was going to MDO but honestly, I probably won't do it again until she's in full time school.

Yes- DD1 got hers today at the pedi, DH got his at work today. I'll get mine at Target if I can manage to get away for a few minutes on my own. DD2 will get hers in December when she is 6 months. They are home with me for another month, than go to daycare 2x/week and stay here with my FIL 3x/week...he gets sick frequently, so that is part of our decision.
Probably not, he's never had one and DH and I never get them. He doesn't go to daycare or play groups, so he's unlikely to catch anything off other kids. His only "friend" is his cousin, who is also a homebody and is rarely around other children. He turned two in July.
Contemplating the snow.

Yes, my daughters are 9 and 2 and with my 9 year old in school with all the germs we all get vaccinated, on top of the fact that I"m pregnant and shouldnt get the flu
Re: are you getting your child a flu shot?
yes
DD's in daycare plus she's around other people in general.
I can't imagine not getting a shot for DD, this isn't even a consideration for me.
Yes
DS goes to MDO twice a week and in general we are around other people and kids throughout the week (birthday parties, play dates, just in public).
DD although not in MDO is around her brother 24/7 who like I said is in MDO. Also she goes with is everywhere (parties, church, etc....)
My self and my husband will also be getting flu shots.

Yes! We will all get one.
DS is in child care, I am a teacher, and LO will arrive in Dec. hopefully this will help to protect all of us.
