My former co-worker does hair on the side, out of her house. I know she won't give me a price but I have no idea what to give her. I am getting a cut (not trim) and foils. Is $50 fair or not enough? I'm clueless!
I have been pretty bad about keeping up with my hair, well myself in general, since the kids. But I did just have my hair trimmed and colored and it was just over $100. I was a little shocked, I didn't even have my eyebrows waxed or anything, just trim and color, I didn't end up giving her a tip because she also fast talked me into some expensive take home treatments and I was totally sticker shocked at the final price of everything. I am curious what others pay.
For a haircut and hightlights i pay $60 ,she also puts 2 different colors in my hair,it's a great deal but i have been going to the same stylist for 10 years now,i know it would be well over $100 elsewhere.
Last time I paid around $100 for both-the new place I go to would be at least that much, maybe more (esp with foils). I used to have a girl who did it on the side and would charge me $30 for both....oh I miss those days!
I worked one summer for the girl who does my hair, and ever since then, she's given me a huge discount. I pay $75 for a color and cut, $95 for foils and cut. I think she starts at $20 more for each.
Way too much, but I figure it is worth a splurge now and then, I usually go longer than I should or would like to. I pay between 100-120, which includes lowlights and toner...and a cut and she straightens it for me. It usually takes her 2+ hours total, so I figure it is worth it.

Oh I miss those days! I used to spend way too much on my hair but it felt ooohhh so good.

Thanks for the input, i cant believe how much that costs! Lol I will show this to dh because he thought I was crazy for thinking $50! Men and their $12 hair cuts. :-)
i am grandfathered in with my old hairdresser in Pittsburgh. Me and my family and girlfriend only pay $30 for a cut and highlight. I get foils and color. my sister just gets highlights
Re: What do you pay for a cut and highlights?

I haven't had my hair highlighted in ages... but I used to pay around $130 for a cut, color and highlight (w/blowout)
Now, my mom just colors my hair (she has her cosmetology license, so she gets the color from the beauty supply store).
DH always says he likes my hair lighter w/ highlights... but then I tell him it would cost at least $100 every 6 weeks to maintain it, so he shuts up!
