Upstate NY Babies

someone just tell me what to do...

We have a 3 in 1 swing - I bought a snuzzler because the seat really isnt infant friendly- so i brought it out this weekend and Lorenzo wanted to sit in the seat (he went through a phase of sitting in it as a chair- then was over it and I packed it away- now its out...) well I can see this being an issue when the baby is in the swing- and honestly, I'd rather pick my battles with something else...

so should I buy a new swing or the FP rock and play?

(I was thinking forward to xmas- and we go to Binghamton and L sleeps in the pack and play- and the baby will probably sleep in bed with us but the rock and play might be nice to have- esp since we sleep in a full and not a King like we have at home)

  • Many of my friends LOVE their rock n play. I might just pick one of those up esp if L is loving that seat again. I remember how long he used it and like you said...it's better to pick your battles than have him have a melt down if you try and put the baby in there.

  • If you think you'll use the RnP anyway, I might pick one up just in case, but maybe L will just get over his fascination with the seat quickly. It was something he forgot existed and he needs to check it out now, then the novelty will wear off and he will be over it?

  • When we started getting the baby stuff out (and still now), Evan will play in it...pretty funny to see him get into the exersaucer.  Most of the time it is not an issue, when A is in it.  We did have to watch him when he was teeny tiny, but now they "play nice" most of the time.  The FP RNP is a great invention and I wish that A would have liked it, but he didn't.  It was so easy to bring it places for naps, etc.

  • I wouldn't go out and buy a new baby item just because the toddler is interested in it.  The older sibling is going to be like that for a lot of things, he's just going to have to learn that it's for the baby.  Plus he'll likely just be tired of it by the time the baby arrives.  He's going to be interested in all the new stuff you bring out, I remember my kids played with the frame for the bouncer for like an hour whiel I washed the cover before putting it on Craigs list.  My DD wants to sit in her big sister's carseat.. well its not happening, that's the way the cookie crumbles, applies to a lot of things.
