I know we have several nurses here, as well as students.
I am currently in school, almost done with my pre-reqs for nursing school. I plan on applying for an Associates RN program in the summer, or staying in my current college (University of Alabama, Roll Tide!) and applying there in the summer for the Fall for nursing school? I hear that it is very difficult program, and I currently have a 2.5 year old. I know I am perfectly capable of doing whatever I put my mind to, but I wanted opinions on whether or not you thought it would be possible to work part time, be a mom, and go to nursing school? If I have to I will cut out the working part time, but I really would like to have a LITTLE income!!
Re: Nurses/Nursing Students
^^ totally agree! even though i don't have a child yet, i can see how if i did, i would have really missed out on a lot with all the studying and working

Yes.
You could do it but it will be very hard. I was living at home with my parents and DH (Fiance at the time) was in college long distance over 26 hours away. I didn't have a lot to deal with and school was still tough. I did work though school but ended up quitting my last semester so I could concentrate better.
I did the ADN program and we had school in the summer also, so we had no time off. We had several people in my class quit because it was just too much to deal with, many were people with families. But then again we had some people make it through just fine. It's a commitment, but it will be worth it once you are done.
What I bolded above is exactly what I have going on, except that LO is due THE WEEK OF finals. I plan on going back right after LO is born, if I don't I will have to start paying my loans back 6 months after and I wouldn't be able to pick back up until the next year.
I do believe that it would be possible to work, be at school and be a mom....it WILL be tough though! I would love to be able to work, but MH thinks that I should just focus on my school work (and LO when she gets here) Though $$ is tight I am glad that he has put his foot down about me having a job. I'm sure whatever decision that you make will be the right one for you and only you will be able to know if it will work for you. I know I would be even more stressed if I had a job.
