What are you going by... 13 weeks or 14 weeks? Every thing I've read has been different and I haven't even thought to ask my OB when I'm there, because any questions I think of don't come to me at that moment..always later, as usual.
My OB told me 14 weeks as well as "What to Expect...." which is supposed to be the bestselling pg book. However, the "due date calculator" under "tools" tells me I was officially in my 2nd trimester this past saturday the 8th, but I'm not 14 weeks until thursday the 13th? I'd still go with 14 weeks though
I have the same question... My doctors office considers you in your 2nd trimester at 13 weeks... if you go by 40 weeks... i guess it would be 13 weeks and 2.5 days... and I have heard 14 ...
I am going to go with my doctor on this one.. LOL..

In my mind, I am planning to go by 13 weeks, 3 days. But I am meeting with my dr tomorrow and I plan to ask him this exact question just to see what he says!

Well, in my mind I had been thinking that 13 weeks would be it, but the book I'm reading says 14. But, like I said, I've read differently else where. 13 weeks, 3 days sounds like a happy medium . It's only a few days difference but if you're like me, time feels like it's slowly creeping by in this 1st trimester and I'm ready to feel better!!!
My OB said it starts right at 12 weeks, because that's when you hit the mark where all the major organ development is finished. I think they go by development rather than just splitting it in thirds.

Maybe that's why my ticker says "now in the 2nd trimester...."?

I just realized mine says the same thing!
Yep, I'm only a day ahead of you too! I know it's not rocket science, but there's too many opinions on different websites and in different books. I say we'll just go with it starting at 13. Sounds good to me !
My MW gave me one of those due date calculator spinning wheel things that was developed by the American College of Nurse Midwives, and it says First Trimester is 0w0d - 11w6d, Second Trimester is 12w0d - 23w6d, and Third Trimester starts 24w0d. Basically, it's 12 weeks, 12 weeks, 16 weeks.
I asked her about it because everything else said 13 or 14 weeks, and she told me that this method divides the trimesters by fetal development.
According to her, I'm second trimester tomorrow (woohoo!), but I think I'll go by 13w3d/26w6d because I like things split evenly.
