DS has been sleeping in his Rock n Play since he was only a couple of months old (he was a reflux baby) and he LOVES it. However, he's starting to get big and I'm not sure how much longer he'll be able to sleep in it. Also, he's getting to the point where I'm starting to worry about him trying to get out.
I starting trying to get him used to taking naps in his crib so that I could gradually get him used to sleeping in there full time. The first two days he did great. Then, yesterday, we were gone all day, and I brought the RnP along for his naps. Now today, he REFUSES to go in his crib. He cried and cried. Normally, he might fuss a little bit and then go right to sleep, but this was some serious crying and he wouldn't stop. He was super tired, so I put him in his RnP and he went right to sleep.
Have any of you had any trouble getting your baby adjusted to the crib? Was there anything you did to ease the transition? I'd really appreciate any ideas or advice. Thanks in advance!
Re: Transitioning to Crib
It takes 3 solid days to make a transition. I'd wait until you can do at least 3 days uninterrupted in the crib and give it another try. You're going to have to make the switch at some point, might as well get it over with. If reflux is still an issue, you can get a wedge for under the crib. He'll get used to it. I always make routine changes starting Friday so DH is home all weekend to help, since it can be exhausting.
Good luck

I have a Rock N Play too! Natalie has slept in it from 2 months to right when she turned 7 months (same as your baby, getting too big... may escape). I was scared to transition to the crib.
Since the RNP has such an incline, I went to Babies R Us and bought a wedge for the crib, so it too could have somewhat of an incline. I kept the same night time routine and she seems to really like the crib. Now she can sprawl out, I think she actually enjoys the extra room.
So yeah, my advice... If you're ok with a wedge, buy one. Keep the same routine and have patience. If it can wait, maybe try doing the transition over the weekend (if you're a working mom). Most importantly, stay away from the RNP at all costs lol. I've been wanting to transition her to the crib since she was 5 months... that's actually when I bought the wedge. But it was just soo tempting to put her in the RNP since it was a 100% gaurentee she'd fall asleep and stay asleep.
