That bean bag pillow that your LO had on his/her legs/feet in the NICU

Alright...so we've had our LO home for about a week and we noticed she is throwing her feet up and waking herself up.  Since she was born and in the NICU she's always had this bean bag looking U shaped thing on her legs and feet and IT WORKED WONDERS!  I'm posting this because this website is in Montana which is fine and I will just buy it tomorrow but I wanted to ask you mommies if you have had any experience with buying this anywhere else and how much is it????

  • Our NICU staff gave us one when we left but they warned us that we could only use it when we were able to keep a close eye on the boys because it is a SIDS risk, in the same way that any pillows and blankets in the crib are. Just be careful!

And congrats on your LO coming home :)

  • Ditto PP - I wanted one also but your LO will get used to his own legs soon enough.  DD still does it sometimes. Congrats on being home

  • Another ditto to the previous posters.  Those bean bags are SIDS risks.

Have you tried swaddling?  That worked great with our little guy.  You just need to get it TIGHT.

All of this--get a good tight swaddle and that will make it harder for her to wiggle around and startle herself. If you have trouble getting it tight enough, try one of those swaddleme things they sell at Target etc.

  • I've never seen one of those.

As far as swaddling, I always struggled to get it good and tight on my guys.  I started using these around 6 pounds and they helped us a ton.

  • We have those and we like them more than the blankets.  Since I'm not gonna use the bean bag thing did the NICU nurses ever roll a blanket up long ways on each side of your LO?  It's a boundary for them and she likes to go on her side...
