Our doctor said to avoid the 3s and higher but ours is just a regular family doctor. She has no reaction (that we have noticed) to any of her 2s (or her 4).
My allergist is having us avoid all posiitve allergies because he said DS's immune system is still developing and a level 1 could change to a level five in a very short period of time. Also, they take the Rast testing levels with a grain of salt because my DS is a level 2 to soy and has a severe reaction to soy oil (which is typically tolerated by that level). We are also avoiding some of the other top 8 becasue they feel he may develop further food allergies. He is curerntly allergic to eggs, soy and peanuts but we are also avoiding tree nuts (frequent cross contamination with peanut) shellfish, dairy (suspected lactose intolerance), and sesame. If you are worried I would see an allergist...there are many differing theories...you could do a food challenge. Have they ever had almonds or soy? and what was the rxn?
DD's allergist skin tested the 2 things that were level 1 on her RAST. Both were negative on the skin test, so we were given the green light for those 2 foods.
my son is Level 1 to soy right now and every time we offer it, he reacts on day 4 with a diaper rash and a slight face rash.
I would not give foods at level 2 though.. but that's my opinion. I feel like it makes them too uncomfortable and we don't really know what it's doing to them on the inside.
