Breastfeeding

Jesus, can I eat ANYTHING?!

I can't do anything gassy (broccoli's, cabbages, beans, soy...)

I can't do anything too spicy.

I can't have any caffeine, due to an intolerance from DS.

I had to do 48hrs with no dairy or nuts because of a mysterious rash.

Seriously, wtf can I eat?  I told my husband that if dairy is the culprit to our problems this baby was going to be strictly formula fed.  Sigh, back to my cup of decaf coffee made with Oatmeal milk, yup yummy yummy oatmeal milk.

Re: Jesus, can I eat ANYTHING?!

  • Im sorry you are dealing with this, it's tough. My LO was really gassy and puked a ton when he was littler. I was convinced it was certain foods I was eating and I drove myself crazy trying to figure it out. I went dairy free, cut caffeine, and verged on an elimination diet. I lost a ton of weight. I drove myself insane. But sometimes babies are just gassy and have reflux no matter what we eat and they just have to outgrow it. Unless there is something like bloody poops that are really indicative of an allergy, it may just be something your LO has to outgrow. It may have nothing to do with your diet and your LO may have the same issues with formula. I hope you find a solution, but don't beat yourself up over it. My pedi said that people tend to way overanalyze dietary culprits for issues that are extremely common in all babies.

  • I'm sorry!

I have had to cut out all dairy and milk proteins due to DS#2 having a sensativity to it.

It has been really, really hard but I've gotten into a routine. The up coming holidays make me want to cry, but....

    Good luck!

  • Formula is made from cow's milk, so if he has a milk protein issue, then formula isn't going to work.  You could try soy, but a lot of babies that have cow's milk issues have soy issues.

There are alternative prescripyion formulas, but at the cost of $800-1200.
