I love DIY for anything, and for LO's nursery it will be awesome. What is your favorite thing you are making/made for LO's room (caution, I may steal some ideas)...
So far I am excited to make a mobile. I have seen them at I think pottery barn kids, and it uses a cross stitch hoop for the top that everything hangs from. The underside of the hoop is lined with ribbon to make it prettier. After that you hang string or fishing wire and attach a few paper cut outs to each thread. (I saw butterflies and trains). I am going to use a few different earthy colors for the paper and cut out woodland creatures. When the wind hits it, it looks so beautiful! Here is a picture of something similar, but not exactly it:

Re: Bring your best craft ideas!
Not really for the nursery, but I made this hat this weekend:
It's a little cart-before-the-horse because we don't know if LO is a boy or girl yet (a/s is today), but I wanted to see if I could do it. It only took a few hours, so I'm sure LO will have plenty of these LOL. The pattern is here: https://allicrafts.blogspot.com/2011/02/free-pattern-baby-earflap-hat-newborn.html
.
I love DIY!! I am going to do LOs name with cardbaord letters. I will paint the letters and then get wooden butterflies or other such things to place on them. I did this for DSs room and love it. Here is the basic idea...

Oh I saw that and I want to make one so badly! I have all of the supplies already. I plan to make some blankets like the ones I am so in love with from Pottery Barn. I will post a link. Pottery Barn is my muse.

My little guy is a boy, so I will be modifying the colors, but you can see the general idea.
How CUTE is this?! I can't knit/crochet but I am having a friend make one with little ears
