2nd Trimester

Random Bleeding

I went to the hospital late the other night after I saw some bright red bleeding. The doctor checked me out and said she doesn't think it's related to the baby and that all looked well. This is the 2nd time this has happened, only this time was a little worse. Has anyone else experienced this or anything like it?

Re: Random Bleeding

  • I've had some bleeding here and there throughout this pregnancy and went to or called the Dr. every time..Baby was fine..not sure what causes random bleeding..I know the first couple of times I bled was after sex, but the other times not sure...maybe just a sensitive cervix

  • I had the same thing a few weeks ago and panicked, the Dr checked me out and said everything with the baby was fine but during pregnancy there is increased blood flow to the cervix and even a little pressure in some women (sex, BM, etc) can cause bleeding-good luck!
  • I had a lot of bleeding on Friday and called the doc and it ended up being TIM but yes hemorrhoids. It scared me so much. They had me on bed rest the whole weekend.

  • I have developed a cervical polyp while pregnant that bleeds whenever it wants. I think they are pretty common during pregnancy due to the increase in estrogen. I also had one with my first pregnancy. I am on pelvic rest for the entire pregnancy and just try to remain calm when I see the blood. The baby always looks great and the bleeding is not coming from the uterus. Just the polyp sticking out of my cervix. They generally don't remove them during pregnancy because they don't want to mess with the cervix. It should come out during delivery.

  • Thanks, ladies! I feel much better knowing I'm not the only one. Good luck to you all :)

  • I GUSH bright red blood about every 7-10 days. It was unknown for about 6 weeks and then a polyp finally showed itself. It had been hiding...

It is horrible and scary and its like starting my period every 2 weeks but only lasts about 10 minutes. Nothing to do with baby, but they still do an u/s every time to be SURE.

You are the first person I have seen who has this too! DO you have a LOT of blood? I keep saying if I was not pregnant I would be RUNNING for tampons...

It is not a lot in quantity each time I bleed. I just use a pantyliner. It is more how often it occurs. It was every few days and now it seems to be a few times every day. Red in my underwear or when I wipe, then slowly fades to brown.

Mine is less often. One big gush just about every 10 days. I'd almost rather it be spotting all the time... Luckily most of the times it has happened I have been in or near the bathroom, but it is still frustrating.

When it started it was not as bad, but as the pregnancy has progressed it has gotten worse. They explained that it is b/c the polyp is now in a bad spot along with just having more blood volume...

I go in tomorrow to check it out yet again. I guess the plus side is that I have been getting u/s on almost a weekly basis since about 8 weeks?
