Babies: 3 - 6 Months

generic formula users?

First off is there a generic version of Similac Sensitive? If so, has anyone used it? Any issues? Where can I find it?

Also on an unrelated note...when you ladies went through the 4MW with your little ones, did you feed them at night when they woke up? My DD is now reverting back to waking in the middle of the night, unfortunately. I was crazy lucky before in that she would sleep straight for 10-12 hours at night. I have fed her the last 2 nights after trying to get her to fall back asleep on her own then with me rocking her. Neither worked so I gave in but I don't know if I'm setting her up to expect a nightime feeding now?

Re: generic formula users?

  • Target has a generic Lactose Sensitive formula (not soy).  but just be careful because when we tried to switch DD to it, she became so constipated within 24 hours of switching that we had to take her into the dr. office and the dr. had to manually get out all of the poop.  It was horrible, her rectum was bleeding because the poop was so hard.  We stopped the generic and haven't had a problem since (that was when she was around 4 weeks).  I know other babies that have done fine on it, but i would maybe just buy a small can to give it a try.

Walmart has their generic version of Similac Sensitive by Paren'ts Choice (we use it!) & DD2 loves it :)

  • We use parent's choice no issues.  We used a mixture to slowly wean to it.

Just an FYI - the Up & Up, Babies R Us and Parent's Choice formulas are all the same product.  If one of those don't work for your LO, the others won't either.
