So I finally started working out consistently a little over a week ago and have noticed that one side of my incision is sore again. All the soreness had resolved before I started working out so I can only guess that this is being caused by excercise. Ugh. I was expecting muscle soreness in the abdominal area, I was not expecting to make my incision start hurting again. Its not bad, but enough that I notice it when I'm walking around, getting out of bed, etc. Have any of you gotten sore at the incision site after you resumed your workout? I'm 9 weeks PP now.

Re: Working out and soreness
yeah, I had to take it slow. Once I got the okay from my ob 8 weeks pp I jumped on the treadmill and started a little too hastily. It was a slow process. I actually ended up hiring a trainer for a few weeks to help me with my recovery and it was work every penny! She taught me which exercises to do that would improve my recovery rather than work against it. Three weeks later I was running with no pain. I still had twinges now and then (up to 6 or 7 months pp I could not do a hip flexer stretch without feeling my incision ) but I always stopped and did something else instead.
You have to remember that while the skin may looked healed there are many layers that have been stitched up that need to heal to and take longer. Just go slow and note what made you sore and modify as needed.
Definitely recommend working with a trainer even for a short while if you can afford it.

I had to do PT starting at DS#2 5months old or so. If you can, I would recommend going to PT before you start working out - they can help show you how to properly strengthen your back and good exercises to start with.
