Looks like my favorite name Aaron has just been nixed by DH.. ugh.

what do you ladies think of Joel? I like the name, my main concern is the short name. What will it be? Jo? I hate Jo.

Also, what middle names do we like with Joel?

I love the name Joel. I knew a Joel in school and no one ever tried to shorten his name.

Why would a name as short as Joel need to be shortened? I'm not a fan of the name myself, but of your MN choices, I prefer Joel Elliott.

I know a Joel and it is never shortened to Jo. I don't like Joel Levi for the same reason pp mentioned... Not a fan of Joel Elliot either, sorry!

I like Joel. I don't see why it would have to be shortened. I don't really think of Joel becoming Jo. It's more of a Joesph thing for me...

Why in the world would Joel be shortened? It's already a one-syllable name.

I really like it, FWIW. I don't think Joel Levi or Joel Elliott flow very well though.

I should love Joel. I love Hebrew bible names and I love J names (Jonathan, Judah, Jonah, Jacob, etc). But something bugs me about Joel. Are you sure you can't sway DH on Aaron. That's a favorite.

I don't think anyone will try to shorten Joel. I prefer Joel Elliot. Joel Levi has two L's too close together.

I would not shorten Joel. Its already short enough. I like your idea of Joel Elliott. Some other suggestions are: Joel Timothy, Joel Andrew, Joel Michael, Joel Gregory, or Joel Robert. I think its a great name by the way. Good luck!
