Numbness above incision?

I am 4+ months out from an uncomplicated c section and still numb above my incision. I'm wondering if this is common and when/if it goes away?

I'm right there with you! 4 months out and still numb...I asked my ob and she said that was normal and thats the last thing to come back...whatever that means...

:Sigh: Hopefully this will go away eventually...very strange place to be numb. Nice to know I'm not the only one!

I had spots above my incision that were numb up until around 6 months after c/s.

the area is numb because the skin nerves were cut from the initial incision. The numbness will lessen and may go away completely, but some women have an area of numbness forever.

It might not ever. My sister is two years post c/s and still has some numbness. Not quite the same, but my MIL had a hysterectomy 20 years ago and is still numb. Mine seems to be mostly gone at this point, but I still have a few numb spots.

My son is 3.5 years old, and I still have numb spots above my incision. Some of my hair never grew back around the spots where it's numb, too.

The numbness never fully went away for me, but by about 7 months I just never noticed it anymore.

8 months out and my area of numbness is smaller but I am still numb close around my incision. Like I said, it's gotten better but I'm still numb.

My numbess around the incision just went away. The actual incision site is still numb.

I'm 18 months out of my first c-section and still numb, my OB said it can take years to get all of your nerve sensations back. However I am pregnant again and due with #2 in Jan. so if I end up with another section then obviously it will take longer to get the feeling back.

I'm just shy of 3 years out (?!?!) and I still have numb spots around the incision. I'm due with #2 in Nov and my OB said that if the feeling wasn't back by now that it probably wouldn't come back.

But, like pp said, I stopped noticing it after a few months.

still numb, before DS#2, DS#1 was 6, still numb. ...I think exercises might help ...which I'm going to start doing now.

You may have some spots that are still numb forever. As the nerves reconnect you'll get feeling back, but it takes awhile.

I'm still numb on the left side above my incision. My ob says it's completely normal and she still has a numb spot 20 years later. She told me that it is impossible for all the nerves to hook themselves back up.

I had my c about 2 years ago and it is still slightly numb. The doctor said that it is normal to take a long time and some people don't ever regain full sensation back.

The numbness is from your nerves being cut, and nerves never grow back. The site will get smaller when the skin begins to go back to its normal size. Most people always feel some sort of permanent numbness.

I personally have never had a c-section, but in 2007 I did have open surgery, with a foot long scar, about the same area, and the area is still numb. 4 years later.

I'm dealing with this and I'm 6+ months out. My OB said that it could take as long as a year for feeling to come back and in some cases, it might not

I am 3 months out and still have numbness. My OB said that is normal for that because of the way that they but you. Big Smile Hopefully that puts your mind at ease!
