Alright back story...aunt offered to buy me the Uppa baby vista. She does it for all her nieces. I went and looked at, it just seems so confusing...a million different options, hard for me to fold, kinda heavy. While at BBB I came across the City Mini and I think it's awesome. That being said, do I need a big crazy stroller or travel system? I'm thinking City Mini and maybe later on a jogging stroller of some sort. I'm just trying to figure out all this. Of course the store makes you feel like you need 5 strollers.
Re: Stroller question...so confused!
It's so hard to tell what works for you until your babe is here. We bought a stroller and used it only a handful of times (between both boys). W/ both Jack and Tommy, it was easier for me to wear them rather than take a stroller w/ us wherever we went.
Personally (and again, this will be different for everyone), if you think you would use it, I'd ask for a BOB jogger over a baby vista. But, that's just what we use in our family. For us, strollers are more for jogging than strolling...which, I guess makes them joggers, but whatev.
<------has 5 strollers.
I had an infant travel system (Graco 35 with the snap and go)when Jack was an infant, BOB, 2 different Combi Cosmos which we use now and a uber cheapie umbrella stroller that we got free with another purchase but I've only used it once and I hate it.
ETA: oops I also have a Graco Mosaic stroller because I HAD to have it since I loved the print which also matched our carseat. I hate the stroller! It has no shade at all and Jack just seems uncomfortable in it.
Does anybody knows of support group for stroller addicts?
No, but if there is, I'd be right there with you. I own 4 strollers, not includiing the snap n go I borrowed for a couple months and the 3 I bought and returned/sold.
Uppa baby vista- bought for reversible, big seat, giant basket and ability to add on for next baby. Not that in love with the push of it. I briefly had a Bugaboo cameleon and loved the push, I'm thinking about selling my UBV and buying a Cam again because I like having a reversible stroller
City-mini-grandma's stroller because it's so easy to fold and unfold. Stays with her. Basket is meh. Wheel base is a little wide. Doesn't sit as upright as I like but it's a keeper.
Maclaren Ryder Umbrella stroller-my usual mall stroller, great push, even one handed. Narrow wheels. Reclines fully. Tiny basket though
Bob- I suppose if I HAD to get rid of all the other's I'd stick with the Bob...it practically pushes itself. Goes over ridiculous bumps/curbs. You can get a infant seat adapter and use it like a (heavy) snap n go.
Don't get a travel system. You'd do better to choose your seat and stroller separately.
FYI - you need an adaptor to be able to put an infant seat in the city mini. i have the city mini and we do really like it but we used a snap n go with our Graco Infant seat in the beginning (i still use it occasionally). i think its more compact than the city so when we're at a restaurant or something, it slides up to the table easy. i also like how big the storage is especially since i discovered my diaper bag is too massive to put in the city mini's storage area.
i like my City, but i wish i had returned it (i was gifted it when i had a BOB on my registry). i so rarely use a stroller out (i wear him typically) that i think i would have been better off with the snap n go, and then the BOB personally. even if you don't job much outdoors, we take J out for walks regularly and the City does okay but i think we'd probably get more long term use out of a BOB than we will the City.

We had a Chicco travel system because I had to have that print. Insert eye roll here. We only used that stroller for a couple months and it was a huge waste of money.
If I could do it over again, I'd get a City Mini Jogger (or a BOB if budget allowed) with an attachment for the infant seat, and an umbrella stroller.
I'm lazy and don't feel like reading through the other responses, so my apologies if any of this is redundant.
Early on we were a huge baby wearing family. It just worked better for us and I never really felt like we "needed" a stroller. Once DD got a little bit older (3-4 months maybe?) I purchased a used Snap & Go off CL for $30. It was perfect since DD could stay in her infant seat and we could use it for quick walks around the neighborhood. When DD was done with her infant seat, I was able to turn around and re-sell it for $30 on CL - so it was essentially free. I HIGHLY recommend going this route.
When DD got older, we got a Maclaren Triumph (an umbrella stroller) and it was great for trips to the mall {specifically when DD was able/wanting to sit up but was still not a proficient walker}. It is compact, lightweight and really easy to use/maneuver. It was a great stroller for the 9-ish months that we used it, but it honestly just sits in the garage untouched now.
We got a BOB last year when I wanted to start jogging and it has absolutely turned into our primary stroller. We use if for any/all walks and when we're going to be outside all day (festivals, parks, etc.). DD LOVES riding in it. DD doesn't ride in a stroller indoors anymore (like at the mall) so we don't have to worry about how bulky it is -- but it *is* bulky. It takes up a substantial amount of trunk space so we absolutely have to plan to take it.
FWIW - I still wear DD quite a bit. Having a stoller is great because it can be a great catch-all for all the crap we need to carry when we're away from home for extended periods of time, but the Ergo is still {IMO} the quickest/fastest way to cart DD around.
We had the quinny line. The Buzz offers a reversible base seat. Once we needed a more travel friendly/ umbrella style, we got the Zapp.
Love them.
With Ben, we registered for the Chicco Cortina travel system. We used the stroller more once he was bigger, but by then we were mostly either wearing him or using a Macclaren umbrella stroller. I didn't like how heavy and bulky the Chicco stroller is.
With Molly, someone turned me on to the Snap 'N Go and that has been the best purchase ever! We use it all the time and if we're in a situation where it's too hard to maneuver a stroller around, I just wear her (I have a Beco Gemini carrier that is wonderful! The best feature being that it allows me to wear her on the front with her facing out, which she prefers.)
I have a BOB and I like it well enough. It was great for actually taking Ben with me when I ran or walked. Molly is really petite and I think she is *just* now big enough to sit in it without being in the infant carrier.
My advice in order of preference are:
Snap 'n Go (universal fit for infant carriers, though Chicco fits the snuggist.
BOB Jogging stroller
Macclaren umbrella stroller (or other stroller that allows for adjustable handle height. This was a big plus for us because I'm 5'6" and DH is 6'1" and it's comfortable enough for both of us to push.)
"I love my babies. Why would I want to push them away from me?"
Just kidding! (That's from the movie Away We Go, which is a cute movie for a first time parent.)
For the first 5-6 months- Snap n Go if baby is sleeping, wear baby is she's awake.
Thereafter, if I'm not wearing baby, then cheap small portable stroller for on the go, or a jogging stroller for more active walking.
I found the huge Gracco stroller system an unwieldy pain, and I ended up selling mine.
We used a snap-n-go for about the first 10 months or so. Just now started using our Citymini. I freaking love that stroller.
But, like MC, we also prob used our snapngo maybe 20 times. I wore her mostly when we were out. The snap-n-go is particularly good when they are napping in the car. Just pop em out and go without disturbing them!
