I still haven't decided what to dress the boys as... it is their official first halloween, as last yr they were in the NICU. They couldn't even wear their halloween pjs SIL bought them. ![]()
I though of Fred and Barney, and found a cute set on Etsy, but not convinced. I was also thinking of classic pumpkins, but haven't found a costume I really like of it... that is comfortable for Miami heat.
So, let's share ideas! What are the MIA kids wearing this yr?
Re: Costumes - what are your kiddos going to be this year?!
Abby has been begging to be a doctor, so we got her green scrubs, a doctor's coat and a spare stethoscope (she has 3- 1 real one and 2 play ones lol She REALLY wants to be a doctor! She only responds to "Dr. Abby" lol)
Sarah's probably going to be a little mouse
I'mi going to make her costume next week.

Elise is going to be Cinderella. I pretty much picked her costume because it's a dress that should be comfortable in this heat and blue looks really cute on her. I also got a great price on it through Amazon. MIL brought her a traditional German costume which is really cute, but it's too big so I might save it for next year.
Fred and Barney sounds so cute. A coworker has 2 under 2, boy and girl, so she's doing Pebbels and Bam-bam. I love it!
But, it does seem like we mostly have to pick costumes they won't suffocate it. IDK why most are made of velour and other thick materials.

Hi Jackie! I wanted matching costumes this year so badly. My Halloween story is kind of long. LOL. I wanted to do something with a theme but Sophia is now 4 and ALL about Princesses and was determined to be Sleeping Beauty for both Halloween and her Princess Birthday party (its this coming Saturday). I had found this ADORABLE lamb costume online for Izzy and so I tried and tried to convince Sophia to be Mary Had a Little Lamb or Little Bo Peep. She insisted that Princesses have lambs, too. She also insisted that she did not need a halloween costume and a birthday costume...she wanted to be the same for both. Until we got the lamb costume in the mail and it dawned on her that Isabelle was going to be Baby Belle for her party and a Lamb for Halloween and therefore has TWO costumes. So now Sophia wants a Halloween costume, too. We think we are leaning towards Alice from Alice in Wonderland but I have a feeling we will end up back to square one with Aurora. Hence my beautiful Halloween Costume siggy where I gave up the matching costumes and embraced the fact that I have two individuals. A Princess. And a Lamb. Who will kill me when she is a teenager for making her dress up as a Lamb.
How is that for drama for your Mama?
Mel - I keep seeing that lamb costume in catalogs, and LOVE it! So adorable and unique. And as the kids grow older, they have opinions (case in point Sophia), so I want to be able to pick their first costume.
I like thing 1 and thing 2, but they've had shirts and bibs, etc of those and want something different. I found an adorable pumpkin costume on PBK (and we have a credit there), but DH thinks it isn't boyish. But I figure they will be picking BOY costumes the rest of their lives and I want something cute. I have no idea why I'm stressing Halloween so much! LOL SIGH.
Here are the two I'm between:

Pic in siggy of my little witch. She chose it all by herself and I'm so proud
I love the idea of doing something matching for them, I think that would be adorable!!
V - I love the Mario / Luigi idea... but Dh nixed it quickly. I told him I could be the princess and he could be Wario. LOL

Jackie,
How about one as Clark Kent and one as his alter ego Super Man? I have a friend whose son and husband both wore suits and white shirts open enough that you could see a Super Man logo underneath...and the black horn rims of course. That way they could be a theme but something different. With yours being so little you could do dress pants and a white dress shirt over a Super Man T-Shirt but add suspenders instead of a jacket.
Oh, I like!
I think they have a superman tshirt (handmedown) that they can wear underneath a longsleeve shirt with pants. And the other as superman.... hmm, very cute.
THanks for the idea.

Nadia wanted to be the Little Mermaid, so of course, Mason was her little lobster Sebastian!!
I LOVE the pottery barn pumpkins! How about two farm animals?? A little cow and a little pig?? lol
Originally Leila was going to be a rag doll, but we ended falling in love with this princess-witch costume and that's what she'll be!!! Can't wait!
I love Halloween! Your idea is too cute - Fred and Barney!
I also wanted to do a family theme and almost had them convinced. I wanted Eli to be a skeleton, Chelsea a cat, Benji a bat, Me a witch and Jim a werewolf. Eli saw a Heat Blast costume in the Costume Express catalog and was hooked. BTW Heat Blast is from a cartoon network show called Ben 10 all about aliens. He is CRAZY for Ben 10.
Then, Chelsea is really into Snow White...so I bought her the SW costume from Disney Store and she wore it at her Princess/Pirate Birthday party and will wear it again for Halloween. Benjamin is going to be a pirate! SO CUTE! I tried to convince Chelsea to be a pirate too - but she absolutely refuses saying,"I'm a PRINCESS!" hmmph
Mikey will be dressing up as Iron Man...so I found my hubby a Captain America Costume Shirt and Mask and will borrow Mikey's Captain America shield....and I will be Wonder Woman. I found a shirt with the cape and headpiece
Jackie...don't feel bad...I SOOOO stress during any holiday and what he will wear...and our Miami weather doesn't help our options very much
Mikey was also a pumpkin for his 1st halloween. I think his was from Babies R Us.
Givi - that is so cute! And I like your costumes are just tshirts that can be worn again and aren't too dressy up. LOL Maybe that will convince dh to dress up for halloween. ; )
We finally decided last night on Mario & Luigi! We had family over and we were discussing options, and everyone loved the idea and when Dh saw a costume online, he gave in! : )

Coming from VA, I can answer this...it's because outside of Miami, October is usually a cold-ish time of year and all the cute fairy and gypsy costumes would leave us with frozen munchkins.
Last year Carley dressed up as a lady bug (which was made out of that thick velour material) & still had to wear a black turtleneck onesie (with another onesie underneath) and thick black tights with boots!
