Food Allergy

when LO reacts to a food...say, bananas...what do you see?

DS has excema and I can't tell if the splotches have gotten worse. We started bananas this morning.

The only other thing he eats is squash, rice cereal, and formula. We did 6 days of squash without a problem.

I noticed a half dollar size red mark on DSs cheek and I think his excema is worse.

  • WIth Grace it was an immediate rash all over her face/trunk area. She would get congested and scream and cry from pain. Now if she gets something she shouldn't, it is just a blotchy red rash around her mouth and nasty diapers later.

  • my son gets a sever rash..but depends on what he has.. if it's eggs or peanuts (which is a serious allergy of his) than he's off to the hospital and an epipen.  But if it's one of his medium allergies than it's a serious rash.. If it's his low allergy than it's usually just a diaper rash.

Do you make the food yourself or buy it in jars? check the ingredients.. some have soy/dairy in them.. so it may also be that.  But banana is a pretty common allergy.

Also, since he's only having a few foods so far, i would take everything out and start all over.  Introduce for 4 or so days each one and keep a journal of his reactions.

    good luck!
