1st birthday timing

Ok, people, I'm trying to decide when to have E's birthday party.  DH doesn't want to do lunch or dinner (long story/debate), and we can't do it in the morning because we'll have family driving over from the other side of the state for the party that day.  Which timing do you think will conflict less with naptimes of other babies?  (E is pretty flexible).  TIA!

Re: 1st birthday timing

  • I voted SS because I did Emma's 1st birthday party at noon or one and she did fine, but didn't nap at all that day and that was less good :-)

I think if you can get a nap in at any point in the day, any time will work.

  • What are the ages of the other kids?  I think we did Walkers from 2-4, but I cant remember.  It was after lunch and he just woke up from nap, so was in a good mood, then after we cleaned up and ordered pizza for dinner and family stayed.

We have done this for 3 years: But grill or something.  The adults/non kid friends that come stay for beers and food, and the kids are gone by 4pm so it's more relaxing with the family that stays.

  • I voted other. We went with 2-4. Syd will have an early nap and everyone will be cleared out so we can have a family dinner. Gah I can't believe our babies are going to be 1!

There will probably be at least 6 other 1-ish year-olds on the guest list, but our friends have kids from the ages of 0-12, so that makes it a little tricky.  I'm going to do snacks/heavy appetizers so I won't have to be actively cooking during the party.
