Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Gymboree sizing?

Does it run big or small? I haven't bought DD anything from there in about 6 months. I can't remember how sizing is.

Re: Gymboree sizing?

  • I think it's pretty true, my DD is fairly small and the 6-12 still fits her well.

  • My DD runs right in the 50%ile and is almost 13 months and fitting in a few 6-12 items (dresses, not jeans) and a few 12-18 items. The 12-18 items are big, but they don't look bad. I have an obsession with gymboree sales and gymbucks!

  • Honestly, it depends what you buy and how your kid is shaped. Grant is on the shorter side and the things there tend to be really long on him but then some things seem really wide while others are kind of tight.

I think they tend to run small, at least compared to Carter's.  DS wears 24 mo size in Gymboree and 18 mo size in Carter's.  However, if you compare him to the size charts, he SHOULD be in 24 mo size, so maybe Carter's just runs big.

That's funny, DD is the opposite.  She wears 18 month clothes in Carters and 12-18 in Gymboree, but many of the Gym outfits are big on her.  She's also recently starting to grow out of her 12-18 month size in Old Navy and Gap.

DD is on the smaller side and many of the 12-18 Gymboree bottoms are too big on her--I even sewed the waistbands on a few things to keep them from sliding off.  The 12-18 shirts fit pretty well (she's 19 months now).

For length, DD is a little bit bigger than the range for 12-18 on Gymboree, but many of her 12-18 Gym pants are far too long.  I already knew she had a longer torso and shorter legs, but most other brands fit her better length-wise.

  • I am so surprised at most of the responses, because I have found that Gymboree runs HUGE on my DS.  Or maybe it's that I think 6-12 and 12-18 are too big of a range.  He fits pretty consistently into 12 month sizes in just about every other brand, but the 6-12 month at Gymboree is still pretty big on him.  I feel like he'll never fit in the 12-18 month sizes that I have for him (though I'm sure he will by next spring).

He's almost 17 months but only about 20 lbs and 31 inches.

  • Toddler sizes run big. I always have to buy a size down in pants for DD1. Shirts and dresses seem to be more true to the weight/length range for the size.

  • I've never had Gymboree pants for DS, but I find the shirts and one-piece items to run pretty small.  He is wearing 18-24 for shirts.

See this is funny to me, because my DS wears 18-24 month stuff in Gymboree. He is 14 months and probably about 32" and 24lbs or so.....

Ditto this!  DS is only wearing 18-24 months from Gymboree now but that's because I bought his fall stuff earlier and this was the size I bought.  The pants fall off his waist, and the shirts can cover his diaper.  At his 18 month appt he was 24 lbs and 34.25".  He can still comfortably wear all of his 12-18 month items.  He has always been a size up in one piece outfits/sleepers though because of his length.

In Carter's he's outgrown 24 month rompers in July.  He's barely in 24 month onesies but and the pants still fall off his butt.

97% of DS's wardrobe is from Gymboree because he wears them much longer than Carter's/other brands.
