I seriously feel abnormal. I have no desires to go crazy on the baby's room. I will not paint and I feel no urge to really decorate. I just feel weird spending money on something the baby won't even care about. I don't care about a theme. Meh. Will the desire to decorate kick in eventually? Is anyone else feeling this way?

DD1's nursery was never finished and it didn't matter as she ended up staying in our room. LOL We didn't decorate for DD2 either as she ended up in our room due to lack of space. Also, she was a preemie and it made me feel better that she was in reach, especially after a NICU stay, plus DD1 was in her own room. This time around, we are moving out of state in June, so we'll be in the process of packing/trying to handle 4 children 4 & under.
Honestly, my nesting phases simply included cleaning and making sure we had all the necessary baby items. As cute as I think the nurseries in the magazines are, I just have no desire to re-create them. Now, when they are older, its another story. I loved going with DD1 to pick out things to decorate her room. We had a lot of fun putting it together. I am looking forward to doing it again when me move
omg, i could have written this post myself. in fact i was going to earlier, but i didn't.
i have many reasons why i feel that way right now. 1. i'm not good at decorating, i don't have that eye. 2. we aren't even sure which room we are going to use. 3. baby is going to cosleep with us and nap in the bassinet in the beginning, so how much is he/she really going to use the nursery. 4. we don't know the sex and are planning to stay team green. 5. i don't like nursery themes because then it becomes overload in whatever you pick. 6. i think i'd rather wait until the baby is older and then we can decorate according to their personality.
i'm sure there are a million more reasons for me, but that's enough.
I totally agree that you only decorate the nursery for the parents. That being said I think ours will be fairly tame. I am going with Ikea furniture, leaving the walls beige and putting up a tree decal. I won't be buying a bedding set, since I won't use most of it. We will just get some solid color sheets and if I feel like it I MAY make a crib skirt in a patterned fabric, but probably not.
The way our house is laid out, we likely will not goto the nursery often. Our master is on main and the other bedrooms up. Baby will sleep in our room for a couple mos, and even when we transition to crib, I don't picture much time upstairs other than sleeping. I'm sure this will change when we have child 2.

I don't plan on going crazy with a "baby theme". That's the part I don't get. Especially since it's so expensive to go with a theme. I do plan on having nice furniture (most which were bought used) and nice curtains and nice linens. I will probably sew a couple pillows to compliment the curtains. I will probably do a couple DIY pictures on the walls too.
Our house is decorated for the most part except the space we don't use so I want the babies room to jive with the rest of the house but I am not dropping a lot of money to do it.
I'm not decorating a nursery. We are just putting a crib, glider, and dresser in the guest room. Walla. Place for the baby to sleep
Everyone told me that I would change my tune when I was pregnant. Nope. Super excited about the baby, don't care at all about having a nursery
