Where to take two walking one year olds?

Hi ladies!

My twins are walking all over now, but lack the ability to follow me, or go in the same direction :)

I'm seeking out places to take them that are fairly enclosed and safe for the 1-2 year old age range, yet offer lots of room to roam and play without being a public nuisance.

Ideally I'd like the place(s) to be free or low cost and in the Twin Cities area/North metro.

So ladies, what'cha got for me?

  • I'd take them to Eagles Nest!  The toddler area is big and enclosed.  :)
  • Loading the player...
  • You can just barrow Aiden & he will keep a close eye on one & you can watch the other :) you know how much he loves your girls

I would also say Eagels next & wow I can't belive they are1 how

  • I will 3rd the Eagle's Nest idea, and also offer up the idea of Rosedale.  They have moved their kids play area into a relatively enclosed area on the first floor down by JCPenny.  It's never really too busy and there is a lot to play on (and it's free!).

  • Eagle's Nest is a lot of fun and very safe, but $10 ($5/kid) for each visit can add up! If you watch for coupons that can help and make it a little more affordable. "Like" them on facebook and they've posted BOGO a couple times. Or I've seen them in Valpak mailers (or check the valpak website) too.

Not sure how far north you are, but St. Paul Parks & Rec has open gym for parents and tots (up to age 5) at various rec centers on different days and times. See page 5:

Maplewood Mall has an indoor play area too, but it isn't as enclosed as Rosedale. If you go to either mall on weekday mornings they aren't too busy so you could let the girls roam a bit in the corridors without getting in too many people's way.

Another strategy is to team up with another mom, perhaps one with only one kid or kids who are slightly older (and therefore better at following rules like following the adults without wandering too far) so you aren't outnumbered 2:1.
