Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Is there something wrong with me?

Please don't flame me but I feel like everyone is talking about talking their baby apple/pumpkin picking and I don't get it. I figured we'd wait until next year, when she can walk and actually do something. I mean, I'm sure pictures would be cute of her in the carrier but am I missing something else? I don't get why it's such a big deal...

  • I'm doing it to start a new tradition with LO

No one else will ever know the strength of my LOVE for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside <3 <br> Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker Image and video hosting by TinyPic Image and video hosting by TinyPicImage and video hosting by TinyPic

  • We are doing it becasue DS LOVES being new places. His eyes get huge and he bounces in our arms and smiles and stares at everything/everyone the whole time. It's so. freaking. cute.
  • I don't blame you for waiting. It seems like the pumpkin patches near us are always swarming with bees. I haven't taken DD anywhere near them 'cause I don't want her to get stung.

  • We took LO today, she'll be 5 months tomorrow and I don't wish we didn't go but it was more of a hassle than it was fun! The place was very crowded and the tractor ride to the orchard was dusty and smelly, and it was sort of a mess, it would def. be much better to go when she is able to walk, but at least now we know we don't like the orchard we went to! I think we spent more time waiting in lines than picking apples. (Although we did end up getting a few for some apple crisp :) )

It's mostly a photo-op. I will admit to being a mommy that does stuff for LO just for photo ops. Hoping she will get a kick out of it many years from now!

  • Ha, ha! I'm the same way.  I'm not taking her pumpkin picking this year.  I don't even really care about Christmas with her this year.  She's not going to know what's going on at all.

Next year I will care more.

  • dd and i went yesterday with my parents.  they go every year for the "apple burritos" since the pumpkins are on apple orchards.  we had a great time, even though i agree with pp, it was a lot of work! i was hesitant at first but am glad we went.  it's always nice to get out of the house and we got some great pics.

  • We took DD to the Pumpkin patch today.  We have also gone to the apple orchard.  BUT they were things we did every year before LO so it just seemed natural to us to go as a family this year.  AND we got some great pics :)

Here are some of my faves :)

  • The only reason we will be going is because of DS. And if I can con my mom into watching DD, then she will stay home. ITA that an orchard/pumpkin patch is no place for a baby.

  • We're not going to anything like that. There is a gas station down the road selling pumpkins and I can get a quick photo there. No point in going to a whole pumpkin patch.

My thoughts exactly. Im all about the photo ops, but I figured I'd just buy pumpkins and her " First halloween, etc" pictures with those!

  • Uh, we just took our 4 month old yesterday...HUGE MISTAKE!  She was absolutely miserable, didn't understand a thing we were doing and it stressed us out to the point that we started fighting.  You couldn't really take the stroller, carrying the carseat carrier was a pain, and even carrying her around became a little too much.  I had wanted to wait until next year too, but my other half wanted to go now.  I wouldn't care about what everyone else is doing, do what YOU think is best...

  • we took Caitlin out yesterday to our local farm and we had a great time. we had lunch, then we saw the pony's and she loved that. we did the corn maze and took a ton of pictures and she was having a great time! We then picked out pumpkins and she had fun doing that and again great pictures! We also were able to pick up alot of fresh fruits and veggies to make some more food. And daddy and I got to get some cider and some pumpkin pie! Totally fun!

  • It's just something to do as a family. DH and I went alone last year, and this year we'll bring DS. He loves to go for walks outside, and his first and only solid food so far is apple, and he loves it!

  • We just got back a little bit ago - we went more for DD#1 (she's 3) but DD#2 was fine through it all and we had a great time.  I was AMAZED at how many tiny baby's were there and this place is huge and had a ton of people.

  • A lot of the things we do are more an excuse for me to get out of the house than anything else.
  • I live in Los Angeles and have never been to a "pumpkin patch" in my life.  If we get a pumpkin at all, it will be from the grocery store.

  • We are not only going to go with my parents, but we are also going a second time with ILs.

DH and I have always gone, so why wouldn't we go this year? I guess we might not if LO wasn't super well behaved, but she is! We got insanely lucky- DD goes to church, festivals, out to eat, et cetera and doesn't fuss. She actually enjoys the stimulation and giggles and looks around. If she hated it, then we would probably stay home.

Just because LO "won't remember it", that doesn't ruin the experience for DH, myself, and all of our families. I just don't understand that logic.
