Anniversary trip, recs please!

Hi Ladies!

We will be in Chicago next weekend for our anniversary.  It's our first trip away since our daughter was born, I was hoping to get some recommendations for restaurants and things to do/places to see.  We are staying downtown and going to the Bears game on Sunday.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Anniversary trip, recs please!

  • We used to live in the city and here are a couple of our favorite places to eat...

    Casual

    Ginos: Stuffed Pizza

    Heaven on Seven: Cajun

    Carnivale: Latin

    The Parthenon:Greek

    Harry Carrey's: Bar Food

    Fancy and/or Expensive

    Blackbird:Contemporary American

    Les Nomades: French: My favorite

N9ne Steakhouse: Good food and the Ghost Bar is cool.

Chicago Cut Steakhouse: Great patio on the river

    Francescas on Taylor:Italian

As far as activities go we love walking through the city, along the lake, and Millennium Park.  The W, Hard Rock, and Trump have had decent bars in the past to grab a drink and a snack.

    Have a great time!

  • The weather has been unseasonably warm and may continue to be, which means that a river cruise is still an option. There are also probably still some lake trips going out of navy pier, and many of those are quite romantic. You might also consider checking out Lincoln Park for the zoo and/or lovely fall colors as well as the Caldwell Lily Pool. A bit north of the city are the botanical gardens, but if it rains and you want to do something nature-y there are two indoor conservatories (Garfield Park and Lincoln Park). If you aren't into outdoorsy stuff, there are a bunch of haunted houses, a number of plays at different price points at various theaters, Second City comedy and IO improv comedy, architectural tours both in the city and in nearby Oak Park, and ghost tours. I think "weird Chicago tours" plugged into google will find you some. If you like baseball as much as football, Wrigley gives tours, too. I think we also may have some roller derby coming up at UIC Pavilion.
