My H just sprung it on me that he needs his dress blues for tomorrow. We just went in our basement to find them and they are covered in cat hair because he just threw them down there after our wedding last year. Anyway I got almost all the cat hair off them but I need to know if I can iron them? (Maybe a dumb question) Also pleats? I've never done them myself and the dry cleaners up here are clueless. (We are stationed at an Air Force Reserve base)
TY so much in advance!!!
Re: Navy wives! Uniform help!
No idea. I just wanted to say that you are a much nicer wife than I. If my husband told me the night before he needed his dress uniform and expected me to do all the work to get them squared away....well...I wouldn't do it.
Good luck!
Yeah, this. He would also never just throw them in the basement either, though.
All of this. My DH wouldnt put my uniform together if I asked him last minute either.

What are you? His mom?
Why didn't he just take them to the cleaners a week ago? You know, men are allowed in the dry cleaner just like women.
Honestly, I am so thankful my husband does his own uniforms. I don't even wash his flight suits. If he wants things a certain way - then he is a big boy and can do it himself.
I would recommend letting him handle this stuff. Maybe then he woudln't throw is stuff down on the ground where the cats hang out. ew.

Man, I had no idea it was such a controversial subject to help your husband with his uniform.
Mine fails miserably at keeping all of his together. I can't tell you the number of times i've had to rush out to buy a new dixie cup hat or other uniform pieces because he ends up losing them. No, I am not his mother and yes he gets grief from me about it but you know what, i'm willing to help him. Even when he reminds me at 9pm that he needs something for the next day.
I've started asking him a couple of times a month about when inspections are and if there are days that he needs to wear anything more than his day to day uniform. I write them on my calendar then so that I can remind him with plenty of time to run things to the dry cleaners or to give myself time to sew on new patches. I work too so it's not like I sit at home all day waiting to do this stuff for him but i'm definitely willing to help him out. And he helps me when I need it.
He does hate the way I iron his uniforms though. I just cant get them the way he like so he does that!
I'm glad you solved the problem quickly though! My husband had to duct tape the hem of his pants one night! He couldn't find the ones he needed from the move so he had to rush out and buy another pair. Considering our house was in shambles, i definitely couldn't find my sewing machine either!
