I have a stool question: my daughter has solids 3x daily and BF- I know their stool changes with solids but I wanted to see if hers are normal.
Her stool is hard and often with colors in it (red/orange/green) and is all together in a sort of patty like consistency. I looked this up and I found if the stool has colors in it then it is "partially digested stool" and some say it's normal, some say if it continues or is consistent to call the doctor becasue she could need tests to see if her intestines are working properly.
She also has pellets pretty often too, sometimes right before her "regular bowl movement" and I kow pellets can be a sign of constipation---she has a bowl movement daily, sometimes 2x a day. Please let me know if anyone has experience with partially digested stool or if this sounds normal to your child's. Sorry, i know it's weird describing stool but as mom's it seems we openly talk about a lot! Thanks!!
Re: Stool consistency
I thought I read somewhere (official, huh?) that it's normal for stool to look like what LO ate. I BF and do 2 solids per day and have seen a rainbow of colors on different days.
I have also seen him have pellets on occasion but I've never been concerned. I do give gas drops before bed every night too just in case his dinner doesn't sit right with him.
